Job description

As Commercial Card User Experience Researcher, you will work closely with a research lead, product owners and designers to better understand the needs, drivers, and success criteria of our diverse internal and external clients. Your insights will have real and immediate impact on business processes, digital product roadmaps and design. You will help develop meaningful and relevant research questions and assist in answering those questions with a variety of methods and approaches to deliver concrete, actionable design recommendations. This will require a strong advocacy for the user, where you are able to build meaningful relationships within the organization to effectively engage throughout the product lifecycle.

Commercial Card provides payment solutions to businesses, governments and other institutions for commercial expenditures, including business supplies, maintenance, repair, operational expenses and travel. Our online management applications provide clients with the ability to establish spending limits, create authorizations and workflows, streamline reporting, and enforce buying policies throughout an organization. As a researcher on the Commercial Card UX team, you will help bring into focus how we can best care for our users' financial experiences.

Job Responsibilities

  • Scope and craft research strategy, conduct research, and deliver insights and actionable recommendations that can inform product strategy and development
  • Execute research studies applying methods such as usability testing, interviews, ethnographic observations, participatory design, card sorting
  • Investigate current workflows to discover users' needs, goals, pain points.
  • Evaluate existing and to-be-developed solutions and design concepts
  • Design, administer, and report on research studies including the creation of associated materials with guidance (e.g. screeners, discussion guides, toplines, etc.)
  • Help orchestrate and facilitate workshops that brings focus to the business value and priority of user needs, creating clarity around the problem space and defining an optimum experience
  • Map out complex cross-product, cross-ecosystem and multi-persona experiences with teams and stakeholders, to help move the current state into an 'ideal' state

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • 3-5 years of experience in User Research, including qualitative user research for digital products
  • 4-year degree - or equivalent years of work experience - in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, anthropology, design research, or related field
  • Facility with generating and applying frameworks to organize research findings and provide decision framing for different stakeholder audiences
  • Reliable test-plan management, skillful session facilitation, and clarity in communicating research methods and outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills, including storytelling, writing, and presentation
  • Understanding of strengths and weaknesses of different research methods, and when and how to apply them in the product development process

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, anthropology, design research, or related field
  • Experience in a large financial services company or another regulated industry OR an agency role servicing such clients
  • Experience in related discipline or field such as interactive design, product management, design strategy, service design, product management, behavioral product design and/or market research is a plus
  • To be considered for this position, you must have a portfolio available for review.
