Job description

Work Arrangement/Location: This will be a hybrid position based in Buffalo, NY. If the final candidate is not located in Buffalo, they will be required to travel to Buffalo & work in Buffalo on a bi-weekly basis.
Overview:
Manages Treasury Capital Markets Traders and the execution of trading activities within the Treasury Capital Markets Desks. Focuses on trades involving foreign currency and/or interest rate derivative products. Manages positions and execution with Street counterparties for foreign exchange and interest rate hedging transactions. Ensures the Bank has adequate liquidity and market access to execute commercial customer business in the foreign exchange and interest rate markets. Maintains compliance with Volcker rule and Dodd-Frank Title VII regulatory requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Bank's foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives risk resulting from corporate transactions across all products, including but not limited to, macro hedging the Bank's forward foreign exchange book, and laying off associated risk arising from the Commercial Bank's customer's use of interest rate derivative products. Manage and maintain external trading systems with Bloomberg, EBS and dealer platforms as well as the internal Spectrum system to execute foreign exchange transactions. Establish and maintain dealer relationships to facilitate transactions and receive market color/advice on unique or unusual transactions.
  • Execute and manage transactions to ensure all trading limits and risk policy limits are adhered to. Design, implement, maintain, challenge and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify potential risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Maintain timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable. Write a market update on a monthly basis on major moves and/or news in the foreign exchange and interest rate markets to share internally.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and a minimum of 6 years' financial products sales experience, or in lieu of degree, a combined minimum of 10 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 6 years' financial product sales experience
  • Strong quantitative skills
  • Background in Quantitative Risk Analysis
  • Minimum of 4 years' corporate banking experience
  • Strong Derivative Pricing Skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant analytical software packages including Bloomberg, etc.

  • Extensive knowledge of economics and fixed income/derivatives markets

Education and Experience Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $115,703.73 - $192,839.55 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
