Senior Traffic Engineer

Michael Baker International has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Traffic Engineer with 15 - 25+ years of Traffic Engineering experience to join our New Jersey/New York Operation. The Senior Traffic Engineer to provide services for a variety of transportation infrastructure projects including traffic analysis and modeling and Traffic Engineering design. You will leverage your engineering knowledge, skills, and experience in the preparation of concept and final design engineering plans, calculations, analysis, modeling, reports, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates and schedules. As a Senior Traffic Engineer you will be responsible to develop and maintain trusted adviser relationships with local, statewide, and regional clients.

This role will work closely with our 35-person Traffic, ITS, and Electrical Engineering Department and other multi-discipline staff in the pursuit and delivery of projects for clients such as the New Jersey Department of Transportation, New York Department of Transportation, New York City Department of Transportation, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New Jersey Turnpike Authority, counties, municipalities, and other regional clients in the New Jersey and NYC area. You will coordinate staff workload with other transportation infrastructure departments within Michael Baker International. You will lead and participate in ongoing strategic positioning for highway, arterial and local roadway, and multi-discipline transportation infrastructure project opportunities, including alternative delivery projects, and will be responsible for successful contracting and project execution. You will also be empowered to grow Michael Baker International's capabilities and market share by pursuing opportunities for transportation planning, analysis, and modeling.

MBI offers a hybrid/flexible working arrangement with offices in New York City, Newark, NJ, & Hamilton, NJ.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead a team of engineers and designers in all aspects of design and analysis for transportation infrastructure, roadway, highway, interstate safety and mobility improvement projects for NJ, NY, regional, and national clients.
• Deliver projects per agreed to plan, budget, program, and quality objectives.
  • Lead, assign, and review work of the project delivery team and provide technical guidance and oversight for the design for transportation projects.
  • Review work progress and identify changes of scope and additional services.
• Staff mentorship and development is a responsibility, as well as the development and overseeing of budgets and schedules.
• Be a visible and an active member of the New Jersey and New York transportation community through professional organization involvement, client engagement, and attending public meetings.
• This position will work statewide in New Jersey and New York, coordinating with transportation staff across our Hamilton, Newark, NJ and Manhattan offices managing projects and proposals for regional and local clients and will ensure QA/QC practices for all traffic work in the region.

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or another related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey and/or New York required, and PTOE certification highly preferred.
• 15+ years of traffic analysis and design experience with increasing levels of responsibility
• NYSDOT, NJDOT and/or other local agencies experience is a must.
• Demonstrated supervisor and mentoring skills.
• Demonstrated project management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presentation skills, public speaking ability, and problem-solving skills are required.
• Strong track record of overseeing successful project delivery.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and conduct multi-tasking efforts.
• Have the drive to be a leader in the company and in the professional community.
• Possess strong engineering judgment with a strive for quality and financial excellence.

The approximate compensation range for this position is $130,000 to $170,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
