As the Senior Manager, Trade Compliance, you will develop and implement Trade Compliance policies and guidelines for GXO. This role will work with various teams across GXO to provide strategic guidance on GXO's Trade Compliance program, including adherence to the Free Trade Zone (FTZ), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), various economic and trade sanctions programs, and other applicable import/export laws and regulations.

What you will do on a typical day:

  • Act as a strategic partner, collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations related to Trade Compliance, such as FTZ.
  • Develop, document and execute programs designed to ensure compliance with applicable FTZ laws and customer requirements across the region
  • Work with appropriate internal/external organizations, as well as governmental agencies to establish Free Trade Zones and their effective operations
  • Drive compliance through the creation and management of appropriate KPI's to ensure alignment with our Supply Chain strategy and our domestic operations operates as efficiently as possible
  • Support the identification, analysis and prioritization of compliance-based risks; communicate potential impacts to leadership
  • Assist in the development of systems, procedures, and work instructions for export shipment processing with a focus on continuous process improvement
  • Make recommendations to improve gaps in performance against contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Perform department audits to maintain compliance with policies and procedures and ensure execution of all a Utilize risk assessment reports to drive targeted efforts in monitoring and auditing to ensure risks are mitigated and resolved appropriately
  • Audit plan documentation and tasks with the appropriate level of consistency and governance
What you'll need to succeed at GXO:

At a Minimum, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 5 years of experience in Trade Compliance in a distribution or warehousing environment
  • Proven track record of establishing and running Free Trade Zones
  • Experience with audit practices and import and export regulations
  • Experience developing and implementing compliance programs from scratch
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience working with warehouse management systems (WMS), and transportation management systems (TMS)
It'd be great if you also have:
  • Licensed US Customs Broker
  • Ability and availability to travel 25-50%
  • Six Sigma/Lean training a plus
  • C-TPAT program management
  • 5-7 years' experience in import and export, international trade, or supply chain, including experience with FTZ, ITAR, EAR, CBP, BATFE, FDA, OFAC, and other government agencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Preferred (MBA or MS)
