ARKA has a 60-year legacy reaching back to the very beginning of our country’s space endeavors. We’re a legacy of mission excellence built on ground-breaking technologies. Join the ARKA mission and discover your next career opportunity now!

The Role

AMERGINT is seeking a highly technical and diversely talented Senior Technical Writer with 7+ years of experience to help write, edit, and format informative and compelling technical content (e.g., user guides, datasheets, product brochures, operating procedures, white papers, and more) for both internal and external audiences. This position requires attention to detail, the confidence to jump in and construct technical documents very quickly and with minimal supervision, the spirit to explore and champion fresh communication ideas and trends, and an enthusiasm to shape our library of “how-to” material. This position is located onsite in our Colorado Springs, CO office.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain corporate content, including Policy & Procedure documents, forms, Knowledge Articles, etc.
  • Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing engineers, referencing technical collateral, participating in project meetings, and engaging subject matter experts.
  • Collaboratively develop, implement, and monitor strategic goals and initiatives that advance the usability of technical publications and improve team workflow.
  • Conceptualize technical visuals (for example, block diagrams, complex tables, infographics, How-To videos, etc.) to help engage readers and convey highly technical information in a friendly way. Coordinate design with our graphic artist.
  • Precisely format content in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint (using templates and styles).
  • Edit internal and external content to ensure that it upholds our branding, style, and industry standards.
  • Support the quality and continuous improvement of technical documents by motivating content review teams, soliciting feedback, and implementing strategic change protocols that capitalize on opportunities to add value with technical communications.
  • Schedule and coordinate technical publication deliverables across the team.
  • Select or recommend use of layouts, visuals, tables, charts, etc. to amplify or clarify publications objectives.
  • Mentor junior writers and editors.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in a technical communications/content creator role.
  • Desire to contribute to an exceptional customer experience.
  • Knack for making technical content clear and concise.
  • Ability to drive communication with engineers and project managers.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Impeccable grammar.
  • Ability to work on multiple deliverables at once, often with tight deadlines.
  • May need to obtain and maintain a security clearance for this position.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, SnagIt, SharePoint, WordPress, and single-sourcing tools (e.g., Paligo, AuthorIT, SmartDocs, etc.).
