The Optum Client Operations organization manages more than one thousand simultaneous implementations of SaaS products in partnership with hundreds of health care institutions, provider systems, and payers. This Client Operations organization is tasked with deploying these technologies quickly, efficiently, at a high level of quality, and to the delight of our customers. The Senior Technical Project manager plays a critical role, both internally and externally, in support of these goals.
Optum is seeking a talented and motivated individual to deploy technology solutions to our clients in the healthcare market. The ideal candidate will have successful experience in Health IT systems implementations. This position requires a blend of client management, project management, process and product knowledge, as well as strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. The candidate should enjoy working with a team, interacting with clients and collaborating with internal staff in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead implementations as the client-facing Project Manager for complex, multi-program implementations. This includes the creation, management, and oversight of project plans to achieve high quality, on-time implementations that result in a satisfied and referenceable client
- Tailoring the implementation process and product configurations to reflect an extensive knowledge of our customers’ business process and strategic needs in coordination with product requirements
- Preparing detailed and accurate status reports on an ongoing basis, mitigating delays to the implementation, and escalating issues to the leadership team when appropriate
- Tracking major client-specific product deliverables and reinforcing the scope of work outlined in the contract
- Relentlessly collaborating across, and communicating with, a myriad of external and internal stakeholders while serving as the primary liaison between the client and technical resources
- Working closely with other Implementation Managers to facilitate cross-pollination of client-based learnings and to ensure consistency of the overall delivery model
- Looking for ways to constantly improve overall performance including the development and continuous improvement of the methodology

Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of project management experience
- Experienced with implementation or support of SaaS technologies.
- Experience working in revenue cycle management with a focus on the middle revenue space
- Experience owning technical client relationships, including recurring relationships, issue resolution, and escalation management
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and manage conflict and risks, while leading the implementation through tenuous situations
- Willingness and ability to travel (up to 25% travel)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management coursework and/or PMP certification
- Experience organizing, manipulating, troubleshooting, and analyzing large data sets
- Experience understanding and translating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience owning technical client relationships, including recurring relationships, issue resolution, and escalation management
- Experience working in health informatics or within the healthcare industry or prior experience with Clinical, Claim, and/or Hospital Billing Data Types
- Knowledge of software functionality, user navigation and reporting capabilities
- Proven solid decision-making capability. Can digest complex information to understand core issues and then develop proposed solutions that align with company and client interests
- Proven ability to apply process improvement methods independently and successfully with measurable business performance improvement outcomes
- Proven energy, flexibility, and positive attitude in a fast changing environment
California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $85,000 to $167,300 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
