We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Analyst to join the finance team at Winland Foods. As a Senior Tax Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with direct tax regulations, optimizing tax strategies, and providing valuable insights to support the financial decision-making process. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and senior management to ensure tax efficiency and accuracy, with a particular focus on Federal tax compliance and provision. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong analytical mindset and a deep understanding of direct tax laws and regulations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Preparation of quarterly and annual U.S. and international tax provisions, and ensure they are in accordance with U.S. GAAP/ASC 740.
- Assist with various aspects of FIN 48 – Accounting for Uncertainties in Income Taxes, including review of tax position memos and FIN 48 requirements.
- Preparation of the U.S. taxable income calculation and federal tax return, including international tax packages and informational reporting requirements.
- Preparation of extension and quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments.
- Assist with various tax planning and structuring projects.
- Assist with research and writing internal reports on various topics to support the Company’s tax positions.
- Cultivate tax technology and drive the transformation of tax processes.
- Research and monitor tax issues and document conclusions.
- Support tax audits and inquiries by tax authorities related to direct taxes, including gathering necessary documentation, responding to information requests, and providing expert advice and guidance.
- Assist with continuous process improvements and integration of various aspects of the tax function to achieve optimal efficiency, effective controls and quality.
- Support tax planning initiatives, credits & incentives opportunities, and special projects such as business acquisitions and divestitures and provide analysis of specific tax impacts; responding to questions from the business, monitoring tax law changes and participating in business process change initiatives.
- Communicates with Accounting, Reporting, Treasury, and Financial Planning & Analysis departments throughout the year on a regular basis; with Legal, Human Resources, foreign-based regional headquarters personnel and other internal parties as issues & opportunities arise.
- Collaborates with outside advisors on various tax matters; Interact with independent auditing firm in support of company’s ASC 740 calculations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master's degree in Taxation or CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax compliance and planning, preferably in public accounting firm or corporate tax department, with specific exposure to indirect tax compliance
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local direct tax laws and regulations, as well as international tax laws and regulations.
- Proven ability to analyze complex financial data, perform tax research, and provide actionable recommendations in the context of direct taxes (Federal, State and International).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in tax software and MS Office suite, particularly Excel (Pivot Tables, Pivot Charts, Vlookups and creating custom formulas), SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Experience with SAP, OneSource Tax Provision, BNA Fixed Assets, and Alteryx a plus
