Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is searching for an Staff Systems Engineer to join the Command and Control, Communication and Computer Missile Defense (C4MD) Business Unit in support of our programs, in Huntsville, AL.
The selected candidates’ task encompasses the following: Integrate and troubleshoot hardware and software down to component levels. Tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions; Provides feedback to design and development teams; Installs OS, firmware, and software updates; Participates in planning meetings; Interfaces with high level leadership, military, and customers.
The selected individuals must be a systems-of-systems SME and possess the expertise, skill, and ability for complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field and general knowledge of other related disciplines. The selected candidates must be able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems, work under only general direction and independently determines and develops approach to solutions. The selected candidates may frequently serve as the inter-organizational and outside customer contact to represent the project/program in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with their specific project/program.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in STEM (and 14 years of relevant experience, or Masters and 12 years, or PhD and 9 years) or additional years of experience in lieu of degree may be considered
- Active Secret Security Clearance is required
- Experience working with senior leaders
- Expertise in Army Air and Missile Defense and System of Systems Architecture
- Minimum 8 years IBCS experience
- Experience in integration and installation of IBCS component and software updates
- Ability to troubleshoot integration or SW problems
- Ability to participate in planning meetings
- Ability to represent Northrop Grumman to RADSIL Leadership
- Ability to execute first line analysis of performance providing feedback to Development team
- Willingness to relocate to Germany for daily work at the US Ramstein airbase (1.5 year duration)
- Very Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work within a high stress and dynamic environment
- Very Strong problem-solving skills
- Leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of ABAD and USAF battle management networks
- Ability to remain in country (Germany) for 2.5 years
- 10 years experience with IBCS source code and/or architecture
- International relations experience or degree
- Master of Science / STEM
