Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Senior Systems Engineer to lead development and integration of a multi-disciplinary (science, hardware, firmware, software, clinical, mechanical) team developing ultrasound acquisition and therapy systems for research and clinical applications. The candidate will work with marketing, sales, researchers, and the cross-functional technical team to develop requirements and risk assessments, and ensure alignment across the development organization, and that requirements are met.
We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated and has excellent teamwork skills, communication skills, team leadership skills. You will need to have a preference towards proactivity, be highly adaptable, and possess an intrinsic drive to create excellent designs and meet customer needs.
As a Senior Systems Engineer you will:
- Lead cross-functional technical teams developing ultrasound acquisition and therapy systems and features for use by academic researchers and start-up medical companies
- Work across multiple functional teams to lead them through requirements definition, technical specification development, feature definition, risk assessment, system-level project planning, system design, and system integration and verification
- Manage daily system-level and feature-level activities, as well as scope change, risk management, and stakeholder communication for multiple parallel projects
- Lead system integration efforts including developing and executing integration plans across features and projects
- Occasionally lead the medical device-related design controls including product definition, system architecture, requirements writing, requirements management, risk analysis, hazard analysis, product test and evaluation, system verification and validation, and/or design control documentation
- Strive for excellence, inspire others, and mentor earlier-career engineers
- Work with a high degree of autonomy and want to be part of a culture of accountability, transparency, and cross-functional teamwork
- Work with managers and others to improve processes and tools
- Believe that sharing knowledge and working cross-functionally strengthens the organization and leads to higher quality products
Required Experience:
- Bachelor or Masters in Physics, Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
- 5+ years experience in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ultrasound Engineering, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Biophysics
- One of your strongest attributes is positively influencing other individuals for whom you would not have a direct reporting relationship
- Understanding of the practical application of Systems Engineering, software and hardware engineering methodologies, project engineering, requirement management, and design controls in product development
Desired Experience:
- Experience applying instrumentation and medical device standards to product development
- Ideal candidate will have experience in medical ultrasound, NDE or NDT, and working with academic researchers
