Job Description:
Primarily supports software family of systems: Distributed Common Ground Station-Army (DCGS-A) - Fixed. The Distributed Common Ground Station-Army (DCGS-A) - Fixed System Engineer employs systems engineering management expertise in the area of fault management, configuration management, performance management, and security management. The SR Level System Engineer will:
- Have experience with Microsoft Windows Client/Server software, Linux server, VMWare applications, and other associated software applications/products deployed in diverse/complex environments across the CECOM area of operations.
- Have expert knowledge of client and server software interaction including web-based application design, support, and integration.
- Plan and ensure disaster recovery of various operating systems.
- Coordinate with local network authority to ensure assigned C5ISR Families of Systems are in compliance with local security policy and configuration standards.
- Assist Information Assurance staff with all documentation required for accreditation and any other associated directives and regulations.
- Have specialty skills to sustain the DCGS-A Fixed Multi-Function Work Station (F-MFWS), Virtual Environment Administrator, Feedpipe Developer, Database Administrator, Systems Administrator, DIB Field Software Representative, GEOINT Systems Administrator, Department of Defense Intelligence Information System (DoDIIS) Trusted Workstation (DTW)/CDS System Administrator, Storage Area Network (SAN) Administrator, SAN/LAN Network FSR, DCGS-A Fixed Site Lead/Integrator, and Information Assurance Specialist.
- Analyze INSCOM Theater Intelligence Brigades (TIBs) site intelligence sources and determine process(s) for automated ingestion of those sources utilizing the approved PM DCGS-A ingestions tools into the Fusion Brain. identify trends and areas of improvement that are accurate for automated ingestion.
- Provide findings to Knowledge Manager during a monthly reporting cycle. Responsible for managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools. Ensures highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identifies possible solutions, and works with developers to implement those fixes.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies. Writes and maintains custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
- Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
- Meeting with the management team to assess and define the system requirements.
- Analyzing network data and infrastructure to determine inefficiencies and problems.
- Developing and designing network architecture and computer systems infrastructure.
- Overseeing the development, installation, configuration, and administration of computer systems.
- Supervises project timelines, budgets, and documentation.
- Monitoring computer systems and networks for viruses, malfunctions, and errors.
- Troubleshooting technical issues and developing effective solutions.
- Preparing network analytics, data reports, and operational manuals.
- Train the engineering team on new systems, protocols, and best practices.
- Keep abreast of the latest advancements in technology, protocols, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a similar field. Four additional years of relevant experience can be substituted for the degree.
- IAT Level II Certified
- Minimum of five years of relevant work experience.
- Military experience desirable.
- Experience with operating systems, such as Linux and UNIX.
- Experience with database management software, such as MySQL, Oracle RDBMS, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Excellent scripting skills with knowledge of programming languages, such as Perl, Ruby, and Python.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, such as TCP, IP, and OSI models.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
