Blue Ridge Power is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Structural Engineer to join our growing team. The structural/mechanical team focuses primarily on Pile and Foundation designs for distributed generation and utility scale photovoltaic systems. With BRP being an EPC, the structural/mechanical engineering team works closely with our construction team to ensure the most effective designs are being utilized. You will be joining a team that is ever-evolving and innovating to create unique engineering solutions to become increasingly more efficient. The Senior Structural Engineer with report to the Director, Mechanical Engineering.
What You'll Do
- Act as the structural Subject Matter Expert (SME) for utility scale solar projects.
- Review owner/developer documents to ensure specification are being met.
- Work with estimating to determine proposal budgets and site feasibility. This will include prelim foundation designs and thorough geotechnical reviews.
- Manage external Structural, Geotechnical, and Corrosion EOR's.
- Ensure project deliverable timelines are being met.
- Preform QA/QC reviews of all structural related drawings, reports, and calculations.
- Develop internal engineering tools, resources, and templates.
- Validate all site specific structural jurisdictional requirements.
- Collaborate as required with all other departments, to include external contacts.
- Preform additional duties as/or directed.
Must-Haves
- 5+ years of structural related design experience to include foundations.
- Experience in PV Structural Design.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Office suite.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards. (ASCE 7, ASTM, IBC, ACI, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
Nice-to-Haves
- Working knowledge of wind tunnel testing.
- Experience analyzing Geotechnical parameters and Pile Load Testing results.
- Working knowledge of sacrificial steel and corrosion.
- Experience with mechanical/working loads.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
- Master's Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) preferred
Working Environment and Physical Demand
- 10% Traveling to sites will be required.
- Position works in an office environment.
- Position has opportunity to be remote.
- Preferably a candidate near our office locations in Asheville or Fayetteville, NC.
- Must be willing to travel and work non-standard hours when required.
