The Sr Structural Engineer - Offshore WTG Foundations, will support the Project 1 engineering and design activities of the Foundations package, from the detailed engineering design through procurement, fabrication, construction and installation of the project.
Responsibilities
Technology assessment
- Steward technical assessments of WTG Foundation suppliers' proposals for, primary and secondary foundation structures.
- Support reviews of fabrication plans, including supply chain qualification foundation staging and foundation installation methodologies.
- Leverage technical and delivery experience to support risk identification (Opportunities & Threats) and assessment reviews.
- Support technical interface with other Technical Disciplines (i.e., Transport and Installation, IAC, HV/MV/LV systems, Mechanical, Corrosion Protection, etc.)
Structural Engineering
- Provide design guidance and technical due diligence of the foundation detailed design engineering. Includes guidance inputs for the foundation primary steel design, integrated load assessment with turbine supplier and foundation secondary steel design.
- Ensure structural, mechanical, and electrical design activities by design contractor are robustly assessed and result in a comprehensive design package for regulatory approval and Approved for Construction (AFC) issuance to substructure component suppliers.
- Ensure that structural design and fabrication sequence for WTG Foundation structure aligns with Project-1 needs, Employers requirement as well as relevant standards.
- Ensure that defined technical deliverables have been issued by contractor and reviewed by relevant personnel on time for milestone completions.
- Support commercial and technical work with external foundations vendors.
- Generate and maintain technical design inputs and requirements for WTG Foundation structure in collaboration with metocean and geotechnical teams.
- Identify activities required within engineering scopes to advance structural definition to meet internal milestones.
- Ensure design and execution meets all JV HSE requirements.
- Provide support for interface with regulatory agencies and CVA. Prepare required documents for submittal and approval.
- Interface with other Atlantic Shores Project 1 technical, development, and commercial teams to ensure communication of required inputs and outputs.
Participate in project team meetings, due diligence review and cross discipline cooperation.
Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions:
During the development phase of the project, about 85% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. Approximately 15% of the time is spent in the field nationally and internationally, visiting potential and existing projects, vendors and suppliers, and meeting with project team members. During construction, site visits or relocation will be adjusted as needed to support the project needs.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
- B.Sc degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture or similar. Professional engineering license preferred.
- 7yrs+ experience in Civil or Structural Engineering and Construction Projects. Experience on projects associated with marine environment preferred.
- Experience with time domain analysis methodology and software used in the integrated load assessment (ILA) between turbine OEM and Foundation Designer.
- Knowledge of wind turbine foundation engineering and design methods and means of fabrication and installation offshore (standards, design, HSSE, certification) an asset.
- Broad knowledge of the abilities of US and European contractors in offshore wind

Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel every other month to a separate Atlantic Shores or parent office for 3-5 days at a time. Travel to fabrication sites, installation vessels and vendor offices.
This role's annual base salary range is between $115,500 and $192,000.
