Position Summary:
RLM Underground is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in the Kansas City, KS office and help manage our office's financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience with financial analysis in the Construction industry. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records, performing reconciliations, and providing support to the accounting team. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Extensive knowledge of Quickbooks Online is required.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements.
- Maintaining and monitoring monthly account analysis and reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts and resolving reconciling items and issues noted in a timely manner.
- Preparing, reviewing and uploading monthly journal entries for month-end close.
- Reviewing, documenting and resolving variances in monthly preliminary Financial Statements prior to distribution.
- Prepare and review journal entries.
- Preparing various audit schedules as requested.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Provide support to other accounting staff and serve as an informal mentor and resource.
Qualifications and Skills
- Prior experience in the Construction industry (not including Real Estate) is required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
- 4-7 years accounting experience required.
- Must be a technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges. Specific technology knowledge and experience needed to produce the desired outcomes include the following: Microsoft Office (particularly Access & Excel) and Quickbooks Online.
- Must have a strong command of business English. He/she must be able to offer a warm but business-like presence. Fluent interaction with all levels of management
- Must be comfortable and adept at presenting ideas and concepts to small groups of people in both formal or informal settings
- Must be proficient in preparing standard correspondence using correct grammar, spelling and syntax, while providing accurate information
- Must be able to read and assimilate correspondence from staff and volunteers. He/she must be able to read and assimilate policies, practices and procedures.
