Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant, Inventory

Job Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting leadership with accounting responsibilities and financial analysis for the New Jersey Distribution Center (NJDC) in the Mid-Atlantic and South East Markets. Provide financial assistance to Supply Chain Operations, Corporate Accounting, and Third Party Vendor Operations (MCLANE).
Principal Duties:
- Provide financial assistance to the Warehouse Operations team, ensuring that Wawa’s interests are protected and contract terms are met. Identify and recommend changes to Supply Chain to improve overall financial performance.
- Provide overall direction and support for team member and monitor and assess individual work in accordance with high standards of excellence. Provide feedback, coaching, support, opportunities for development, complete performance appraisals, take corrective action when appropriate, and participate in hiring decisions.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data, relating to intercompany and warehouse expenses for the NJDC, and McLane South East.
- Create the weekly Intercompany Reconciliation report and provide insight and resolution into store/warehouse invoicing issues. Work with SCIT and business partners to identify and resolve all interface issues. Create efficiencies around the Non-Store processes as it relates to Intercompany. Work with impacted departments to ensure that items are billed correctly.
- Process, review and analyze Promotional Allowances and Discounts monthly, and distribute reporting to impacted departments.
- Quarterly analysis of Other Tobacco product (OTP) Returns and work with Marketing, Accounts Receivable, Supply Chain and Tax Departments to highlight any changes to the business regarding any vendor funds received.
- Work with Staff Accountants to provide general ledger coding (for non-cigarettes) for all funds/checks received through Accounts Receivable. Weekly review of McLane Admin expenses and 3rd party invoices for accuracy, payment and variance to budget.
- Create, analyze and report the Gross Profit report, on a weekly basis and report budget variances to Supply Chain and Planning and Analysis.
- Perform monthly Service Level Agreement (SLA) audits for Warehouses.
- Analyze and communicate discount opportunities based off of vendor spend and purchasing trends.
- Provide schedules, and comparative analysis, to our external auditors for their preliminary and year-end audit work; in addition to inventory year-end cut-off requirements.
- Compile data for Planning & Analysis create NJDC’s budget, and work with Planning and Analysis through the annual budgeting process.
- When implementing new systems and processes, be the subject matter expert to ensure that all accounting principles and rules are adhered.
- Perform other functions/special projects as assigned by Manager.
- Prepare ad hoc reporting.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related business discipline preferred
- 5-7 years of accounting/financial analysis experience
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word and Access
- Experience with Financial Accounting Systems (SAP and/or SAP BW Preferred)
- Ability to travel to the NJDC (Carney's Point) once per mon
