Position Summary
The Senior Specialist, QA Engineering is responsible for providing quality oversight for Site Technology Transfer activities and Validation activities in accordance with BMS policies, standards, procedures and Global cGMP in a fast-paced, highly collaborative manufacturing facility. This position is a member of the Cell Therapy Development and Operations (CTDO) organization, which supplies autologous and allogeneic cell therapies for first-in-human and pivotal clinical trials. Functional responsibilities for the incumbent include ensuring accurate and timely review of technology transfer documents for manufacturing processes; investigations and change controls.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review/approval of technology transfer related deviations/discrepancies.
  • Ensure process and method transfers, method qualification/verification meet company and regulatory requirements.
  • Sponsor and support the change initiatives and the implementation of process improvement initiatives.
  • Support production related investigations, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuously monitor, anticipate and permanently resolve issues that may arise during production.
  • Ensure compliance with the site validation master plan, assist with facility start-up operations and product transfers supporting the Qualification and Validation teams.
  • Review media simulation activities to ensure successful execution and documentation.
  • Ensure site is compliant with global and regulatory data governance and data integrity requirements.
  • Ensure the site stability program meets global and regulatory requirements.
  • Interact with Engineering/Facilities/Warehouse/Supply Chain/Manufacturing Operations/Quality Control management to ensure functional activities comply with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support any other goals and objectives of the site Quality Assurance organization, as needed.

Qualifications & Experience
  • B.S. degree required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with GMP, Quality and compliance.
  • Must have a basic understanding of cell therapy manufacturing.
  • Must be knowledgeable on the process and associated methods for the assigned product.
  • Must manage development of technical or scientific initiatives and activities by interdisciplinary teams.
  • Must be able to critically review investigations and reports, interpret results, and generate technical conclusions consistent with Quality risk management principles.
  • Must be able to recognize patterns and trends in reported data and communicate strategic solutions to stakeholders cross-functionally.
  • Intermediate knowledge of quality systems including CAPA, change control, and document management systems.
  • Requires minimal direction to complete tasks, authority to make daily decisions that impact their team.
  • Negotiates solutions cross-functionally. Drives continuous improvement and improves efficiency and productivity within the group or project.

  • Consults management for advice on complex issues.
  • Able to prepare written communications and communicate problems to management with clarity and accuracy.
  • Advanced skills in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and a high level of organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to write and review reports with clarity and brevity.
  • Drive strong collaboration within the site and across the network.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
