Overview
Gallagher Bassett, the risk management division of Arthur J Gallagher, seeks a Senior Solution Architect to plan, design, and implement large scale global solutions with cloud and on premise characteristics.
Under the stewardship of Gallagher Bassett's Chief Architect, the Solution Architect will share responsibility with several other Senior Solution Architects for Gallagher Bassett's platforms across the world. Each Solution Architect in Gallagher Bassett is expected to develop and maintain Solution Architectures and designs that are consistent with enterprise architecture set at the division level and overall corporate level. Working closely with each IT senior leader, the role is tasked with successfully delivering and driving outcomes that align with Gallagher Bassett's key initiatives.
The candidate must possess strong communication skills, be able to successfully partner with operational general managers and deliver robust solutions meeting client and organizational requirements/standards.
We seek a candidate with significant depth in the insurance industry as well as a deep familiarity with consulting institutions because Gallagher Bassett represents the intersection of these two domains.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities

• Define the current state, target state, and release Solution Architectures for business initiatives and IT Programs consistent with organization architecture under the guidance of the GB architecture team
• Provide design leadership through:
• Clear and demonstrable understanding of business strategy, IT strategy, domain and organization architecture
• Structuring the problem effectively by obtaining business and IT endorsement prior to creating a solution
• Ensuring the resulting design is implementable and within the risk parameters of the business owner
• Reusing existing application components and infrastructure
• Designing for reuse and deployment across the organization
• Designs are rendered and maintained in Gallagher Bassett's architecture repository to facilitate communication across global federated IT teams
• Ensuring security compliance and adherence to IT Policies
• Ensuring appropriate performance and scalability
• Awareness of industry compliance initiatives and their impacts
• Preparation of design options where there are multiple solutions available
• Recording endorsed design decisions
• Contribute to idea definitions and high-level project estimates/costings
• Provide overall technical leadership to project teams in terms of the end-to-end solution
• , ensuring all facets of the designs and technologies are integrated to deliver an architecturally compliant implementation
• Takes accountability for ensuring the end-to-end solution meets the business needs
• Review infrastructure and system designs to ensure they adhere to applicable strategies and/or Solution Architecture, while still considering business pragmatism and cost
• Defend/Champion solution designs where required
• Peer review architecture and solution designs with Senior Solution Architecture team
• Provide technical advice and guidance to Project Managers, IT Managers and Business representatives
• Provide mentoring and guidance to architects, technical leads, application system specialists, business & system analysts

Qualifications
Required:

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 7 years of prior relevant experience, or equivalent experience.

Exception Candidate Will Possess:

• 10+ years of professional experience with appreciable time spent functioning at the VP/Partner Level, preferably in the IT consulting sector complemented by C-level industry exposure
• 5+ years in leading roles implementing global custom systems, preferably in the insurance industry
• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with massive ambiguity
• Exceptional communication skills with senior business leadership in the USA as well as Managing Directors in our international locations
• Solutions Architecture experience in the Commercial Lines Property and Casualty industry vertical is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to create strong working relationships with others across a wide-range of backgrounds and job functions
• Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, applied math or related field
