What this role is about:We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer that is eager to contribute to creating world-class emergency technology by building out and maintaining our complex backend. You will develop backend business logic, RESTful APIs and telephony applications, with a focus on system reliability, scalability and security. This is an exciting opportunity as you will collaborate to work on life-saving technology with a mission-driven team!
What you'll do:

• Develop and maintain the cloud VoIP system to ensure high availability and fault tolerance
• Prototype new features to assess feasibility and identify new initiatives to optimize the VoIP system
• You will collaborate with a group of dedicated engineers to solve large problems in manageable phases, working to reimagine how emergencies are managed around the world, while building out a highly reliable platform that provides life-saving data to dispatchers covering 99% of the US population
• Work with the Product team and other stakeholders to design solutions for the most critical challenges facing our Public Safety and B2B data partners
• Develop a deep familiarity with the software and systems that make up RapidSOS' Emergency Data Platform

What we're looking for in our ideal candidate:

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience with 3+ years of relevant experience with VoIP and 3+ years of using Python in a production level environment
• Experience developing cloud based VoIP, SIP, and Real Time Communication services

• Understanding of software design principles with experience in RESTful APIs or RESTful web services
• You enjoy taking on and solving difficult problems in a collaborative environment
• You are passionate about building and releasing software that serves a vital purpose
• You appreciate a culture of respectful but candid communication and feedback
• Eagerness to learn new technologies

Bonus:

• Experience working with PJSIP and Asterisk
• Experience with video-streaming and/or WebRTC
• Experience in development of highly-available cloud based services (AWS preferred) and distributed systems

Starting pay for a successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include experience, relevant skills, training, education, location, business needs, or market demands. The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $190,000. This role will also be eligible to receive equity options. #LI-Remote
