About The Role
The Planning and Execution team at Seegrid is responsible for delivering robust robotics primitives to enable product features and capabilities associated with our enterprise material handling solutions. The team integrates with perception, fleet application and truck application software teams by providing modular and extensible discrete subsystems such as global path planning, coordinated object detection and manipulation, local (trajectory) controllers, and behavioral execution.
Software engineers on this team are responsible for developing production grade C++ solutions for truck motion and behavior execution. They develop unit, module, and system level tests for software they write. They participate in code reviews with and by their peers. They are guided by technical leads while on larger projects, and are capable of delivering smaller projects without significant input. They are expected to own one or more components in the Planning and Execution stack. They gather requirements from stakeholders and incorporate feedback throughout development.
This role reports to the Manager of Planning and Execution
Responsibilities Include:
- Research, design, develop, maintain, and extend motion planning algorithms including path Planning and trajectory generation
- Research, design, develop, and maintain scalable task/behavior execution frameworks
- Develop reusable modules that can be composed to solve material handling tasks
- Participate in code reviews with your peers
- Collaborate with partners including PdM, TPM, Perception and Application SW team members to deliver robust solutions in accordance to our product roadmap
- Develop visualization and debugging tools that aid in the testing and maintenance of Planning and Execution subsystems (e.g. RViz & RQt configurations & plugins)
- Profile and optimize runtime performance of Planning and Execution subsystems
Required Qualifications:
- BS/MS/PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Mastery of C++ and experience with Python
- Experience in working on autonomous agents in any field (e.g., Game Development, Robotics, Defense, Manufacturing, Finance, etc.)
- Expertise in one or more of the following domains: Graph/Sample-based Planning, Behavioral Planning, Decision Making, Multi-Agent Coordination, Object Manipulation
Desirable Qualifications:
- Fluent in Linux systems programming
- Experience in working on autonomous vehicles in any field (e.g., AGVs, automotive, agriculture, etc.)
- Experience with ROS, ROS2, DDS, or other data-centric middleware architectures
- Experience with modern task execution frameworks such as behavior trees
- Experience with simulation applications or game engines (e.g. Gazebo, Nvidia Isaac Sim, Unity, Unreal)
