Job description

Global Risk and Security (GR&S) at Vanguard enables business strategy, protects client and Vanguard interests (e.g., assets and data), and stewards a strong risk culture. Within GR&S, the Enterprise Security and Fraud (ES&F) sub-division is responsible for the global protection of Vanguard crew, property, data, and client assets. We are the trusted advisors that protect the pride of Vanguard with state-of-the-art security and fraud capabilities. In this role you will:

  • Provide architectural leadership in shaping strategic security technology programs for the organization.

  • Determine security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; study architecture/platform; identify integration issues and recommend security solutions.

  • Articulate and document requirements for the secure configuration of hardware/devices, operating systems, and software, including systems and services within cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google), with alignment to industry standards (e.g., CIS, NIST).

  • Support and enable the design and implementation of security systems as assigned by participating in the evaluation and testing of solutions to automate secure configuration as well as remediation.

  • Assess upgrades to security systems; validate security gaps; evaluate enhancements. Prepare system security reports to provide data-driven updates on trends.

  • Demonstrate and maintain a deep understanding of emerging security practices and standards; participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.

  • Communicate complicated technical concepts effectively to a broad group of stakeholders.

  • Possess deep understanding of the competitive landscape and corporate and business unit strategies to provide context for Security Architectural decision making.

  • Consult on cloud security technologies, tools and techniques for secure configuration.

  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.


What it takes:

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of technology architect experience.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Certification- CISSP preferred. GSEC preferred.
