Job Description
The Senior Scientist of Analytical Chemistry is responsible for the coordination of all technical service analysis,
analytical instrumentation, and analytical methods. This role will ensure all analytical methods are fit for
purpose, manage the analytical staff, support field testing/equipment, and develop weekly targets with
the SVP of lithium extraction. The Senior Scientist will work with the Pilot Plant and R&D
groups to ensure the test work will meet the commercial needs of the company. The Senior Scientist will report directly to the Director of R&D.
Responsibilities
Work in a team of experienced EnergyX scientists in research and development focused on disruptive
materials, processes, and engineering systems to fundamentally transform the energy industry. Specific
responsibilities include:
• Ensure EnergyX has all of the analytical equipment needed and that it is in working order
• Develop methods for each instrument and each technique related to the analysis of samples
submitted to the analytical team
• Keep written logs and reports of all work being done
• Directly manage all analytical staff
Basic Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Chemistry.
• Minimum 7-10 years of laboratory work developing methods for the analysis of samples, particularly
metals in solution.
• Must be able to present data through documents, evaluation of spreadsheets, presentation of
slideshows, and chalk and talk sessions. Presentation to subject matter experts that will
evaluate and possibly challenge work.
• Must have a complete understanding of ICP and AA for the analysis of alkali metals and alkali
earth in solution.
• Collaboration amongst the science teams and departments will be necessary for this role.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to review work, write summaries, and present pertinent information.
• Must understand commercial needs versus academic.
