What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will join our Computational Biology team within the Amgen Center for Research Acceleration by Digital Innovation (CRADI). CRADI is a multi-disciplinary effort embedded within our drug discovery engine that continually uses advancement in genetics, genomics, proteomics, disease modeling, and computational biology to accelerate our pipeline from target inception through drug development. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced scientist with expertise in computational biology techniques and applications. This position will collaborate closely with scientists from various therapeutic areas, including oncology, inflammation, and cardiovascular & metabolic diseases, as well as novel drug modalities such as targeted protein degradation.The successful candidate will have a track record of innovative and collaborative research demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications.

  • Apply computational biology technologies for drug target/biomarker discovery, validation of therapeutic hypotheses related to disease biology, and elucidation of mechanisms of action to establish target conviction and guide indication selection.

  • Serve as a computational biology expert within a multidisciplinary group of scientists from various therapeutic areas and drug modalities, data scientists and engineers, providing guidance on experimental design and data analysis strategies to advance the preclinical pipelines of drug discovery.

  • Find opportunities to introduce novel computational technologies and AI/ML techniques for integrative multi-omics and for modeling complex biological systems such as the tumor microenvironment and intercellular signaling networks.

  • Collaborate with engineers and research scientists to develop tools that automate common data processing and visualization tasks.

  • Monitor and review emerging computational biology innovations and high-value external knowledge resources and databases spanning prioritized disease areas and technologies.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree PhD

OR

  • Masters degree and 3 years of experience in computational biology

Or

  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience in computational biology

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, or data science with multiple years of post-graduation research experience in academia or industry related to pharmaceuticals.

  • Extensive experience in applying multi-omics datasets, including epigenomics, multi-modal single-cell omics, and proteomics, to research on human disease and drug discovery

  • Experience with AI/ML models for integrative multi-omics analysis, causal inference and disease target prediction

  • Fluency in scientific programming and tool development with R/Python

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
