Washington County is now hiring a Senior Risk Management Analyst to join our Risk Management team! This position is responsible for planning and administering the County's workers' compensation claims program. The individual in this role will use an empathetic people-centered approach to support County employees who are injured on the job and/or need assistance with the claims process. The Senior Risk Management Analyst will also provide loss control advice, conduct investigation of claims, provide consultation to supervisors and managers, and manage all workers' compensation claims.
The ideal candidate will be both able to manage workers' compensation claims in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, and federal and state regulations while maintaining an empathetic understanding of the injured employee's claim experience. The County's employees are key to the human-centered approach of local government. The successful candidate will be able to balance compassion for the injured employee with the County's obligations as a public agency to be careful stewards of public funds. In a budget where funding is finite, the ideal candidate should be creative in structuring return to work programs and other programmatic enhancements that result in savings without sacrificing the support provided to the injured employee. The candidate will have strong relationship building skills and be able to work effectively with the County's third-party administrator, healthcare providers, state agencies, attorneys, and managers and supervisors of County departments across a broad range of functions.

- Bachelor's Degree in occupational safety/health, public or business administration, Risk Management, social science, or a related field; AND six (6) years of professional-level experience in Risk Management, claims management, loss prevention, or workers' compensation. OR
- Associate's Degree in occupational safety/health, public or business administration, Risk Management, social science, or a related field; AND eight (8) years of professional-level experience in Risk Management, claims management, loss prevention, or workers' compensation. OR
- Ten (10) years of professional-level experience in Risk Management, claims management, loss prevention, or workers' compensation.
- Must possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record.
- Must be able to successfully pass background investigation.

- Salary Analysis & Conditional Offer: Human Resources will conduct a salary analysis for the successful candidate(s) and extend an offer of appointment conditional on successful completion of background, driving records check, and reference checks.
- Start Date: A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.
