Senior RF Electronics Engineer

We are seeking a Senior RF Electronics Engineer to lead design and development of SCOUT hardware systems. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the hardware development of SCOUT's on-orbit perception and autonomy capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Perform high-frequency RF modeling, analysis, and board-level receiver and electronics design
• Design custom PCBs for RF and optical space payloads
• Support the embedded software and firmware development for object detection with RF and optical sensors
• Perform trade studies on available COTS hardware and the potential need for custom designs
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for component-level and payload assembly, integration, and test

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of RF/electrical/software design experience specific to space systems
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including C++, C, python, or MATLAB
• Expert Altium user
• Recent experience with VHDL or Verilog and Xilinx FPGAs
• Hands-on experience integrating hardware and software systems
• Thorough understanding of the impacts of the space environment on electronics
• Enthusiastic attitude towards individual and teamwork and collaborating with geographically diverse offices
• Proven track record of payload design lifecycle completion, including proposal, design, manufacture, assembly, test, and integration
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts and technical information clearly and concisely

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expert FPGA development experience
• Experience detecting objects in space with RF sensors
• Experience with motor controllers
• Ability to tackle multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience working and collaborating in a fast-paced, small team environment.

Our positions are based in Reston, Virginia, with much of our team operating in a hybrid or remote fashion.
