Senior Retirement Planner

SECU is looking for an experienced Retirement Planner to serve as the back-office planning consultant to our Retirement Planners in the branch network. The focus of this role will be to assist in analyzing member cases submitted by the branches and providing recommendations.
As a Senior Retirement Planner, you will:

• Perform timely reviews of the financial plans submitted to our department
• Serve as a subject matter expert
• Provide relevant feedback and recommendations to the FAS Specialists that are in line with member preferences and that are inclusive of all areas of financial planning

• Demonstrate knowledge in holistic retirement planning and complex financial planning scenarios
  • Maintain knowledge about IRA(s), employer plans, retirement income planning, withdrawal strategies, social security strategies, NC state employee benefits, etc.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of our planning software
  • Work directly with FAS Regional VPs, District Managers, and Specialists to mentor and coach them on holistic retirement planning and our planning software
  • Advise employees on SECU's employee plans and financial plans as needed
  • Know how to incorporate other areas of Financial Advisory Services into retirement planning
  • Assist with curriculums and training materials created for the FAS Retail Delivery network
  • Assist in creation, coordination, and delivery of relevant retirement planning strategies
  • Perform research as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

• Applicant must have at least seven years of experience in a client-facing position delivering financial planning or retirement planning advice
• Must have Series 7 & 66 (or 63 & 65)
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Must have a high degree of skill in verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications:

• CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation or education, can substitute with relevant experience
• Any of the following licenses/certifications:
  • Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®)
  • Certified Trust and Financial Officer (CTFA)
  • NC Life & Health Insurance Licenses
  • NC Medicare Supplement/Long-Term Care Insurance License

• Experience with MoneyGuide
• A Bachelor's degree in a business field
• Experience speaking in front of large groups

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule when appropriate, including some travel throughout North Carolina during business hours

• Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy established by management
• Must be able to speak English fluently

Job Environment:

• Office setting with physical proximity to other employees
• Some background noise from other employees, copy machine and telephone
• Remote work may be required
• Travel throughout North Carolina to provide training
