ABOUT THE ROLE
This role within the Research Group of Scout Bio will be responsible for the pre-clinical evaluation and development of novel AAV Gene Therapy and protein-based therapeutics for companion animals. The successful applicant will have an expert understanding of AAV Gene Therapy.
Key duties
- Designing and constructing novel AAV-compatible transgenes, promoters and regulatory elements for in vitro analysis and proof-of-concept animal studies.
- Design, optimization, and execution of assays for the evaluation of transgene transduction, expression, potency and immunogenicity.
- Production and purification and quantification of small-scale vector preps.
- Evaluation and application of new platform technologies and product opportunities to expand our pre-clinical pipeline.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (including CMC, clinical and external collaborators) to ensure that information is shared, and studies are performed with scientific rigor.
- Writing and editing of preclinical study reports and preclinical sections in support of regulatory submissions.
- Effectively managing and mentoring junior-level staff and acting as a resource for providing scientific expertise.
This role will have a close working relationship with all other scientific staff at the company.
ABOUT YOU
You will have:
Essential skills knowledge and experience
- PhD with post-doctoral experience in one of the following disciplines: Virology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of working experience in a preclinical research and development environment (adeno-associated viral vectors preferred).
- Expertise with molecular and cell biology techniques including ddPCR, viral transfections, immunogenicity assessments.
- Strong understanding of protein chemistry techniques as pertains to AAV vector purification and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team-based environment.
- Ability to support multiple projects.
- Strong grasp of key scientific software programs (including Microsoft Office, graphing software and DNA/protein analysis tools).
- Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral) with demonstrated ability to present ideas, information and data effectively in team meetings, and with external collaborators..

Salary: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
