We are the first publicly-traded biotech or pharmaceutical company to take the form of a public benefit corporation (PBC). Our public benefit purpose is to provide a brighter future for patients through (a) the development of novel pharmaceutical therapies; and (b) technologies that expand the availability of transplantable organs. At the same time, we seek to provide our shareholders with superior financial performance and our communities with earth-sensitive energy utilization.
Our company was founded by an entrepreneur whose daughter was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition. She sought to find treatment options and a cure for her daughter and patients like her. We are founder-led, and relentless in our pursuit of “medicines for life”. We continue to research and develop treatments for cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, and other orphan diseases.
How you’ll contribute
The Senior Research Associate, Cellular Reprogramming will perform cell studies and execute analytical methods to support the production and process development of autologous reprogramming of somatic cells and supplying sufficient iPSC cultures to support internal efforts relating to the differentiation of iPS-derived cells for development of autologous 3D printed tissue engineered organs.
- Perform and optimize the development of a robust, autologous reprogramming process from circulating cell types
- Design studies and lead efforts to propagate and characterize newly generated iPSC lines
- Write and update SOPs and batch records for various reprogramming processes
- Write and update standard operating procedures for operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Conduct the technical transfer of assays into the production team or to internal manufacturing, as needed
- Design cell studies to address technical and scientific challenges to derivation of iPSCs from blood
- Record and manage use of materials and reagents needed to carry out experiments
- Meet 1:1 with managers to review results and progress
- Maintain smooth operations of the lab, including maintenance of lab supplies, monitoring of equipment, providing general lab support, and helping identify areas for improvement
- Follow proper procedures regarding laboratory safety, use of personal protective equipment, and handling of biohazard materials, including human or animal cells and tissues
- Record all laboratory data in the in-house data management system(s)
- Mentor and train junior staff in laboratory processes and procedures as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
