Under the supervision of the Actuarial Manager, the Senior Research Analyst will perform analytics projects spanning all departments, performing independent research and translating findings into reports and communications for technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities:
- Research, collect and analyze data related to, but not limited to, claims, underwriting, insurance policies, to identify trends, patterns and areas for improvement.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business problems and help develop analytical solutions
- Research various topics, using both internal and external data, at the request of the CEO and CFO
- Conduct research on Claims department data, including trends in cycle times, frequencies, severities, LAE payments, etc.
- Develop reports on usage and performance of AgentPak, our agency-facing portal
- Develop powerful insights using a variety of analytical tools and techniques to deliver results to stakeholders which in return drive business decisions
- Communicate findings and recommendations to various audiences, including executives, through e-mail, in-person presentations and virtual presentations
- Build strong partnerships with business leaders across the organization to support project/research needs
- Ad hoc projects, as requested
Qualifications:
- 3-10 years of experience working in business intelligence at either a P&C insurance/reinsurance company or a consultant focused on the P&C industry
- Curiosity to learn about all aspects of the company
- Desire to explore new data and summarize findings for an executive audience
- Ability to work through complexities independently, seeking out the correct team members to answer questions
- Familiarity with SQL preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance multiple projects
