Your Impact
As a Senior Release Manager II on the Real-Time Operations team, you will make a direct impact towards our missions of protecting life, capturing truth and never missing a critical moment. The Real Time Operations (RTO) team builds, deploys and maintains products for emergency responders. Because of the every second counts for our customers, any production outage, functional regression or performance degradation that lasts for even a few minutes can make a big impact. This role oversees the release of all Axon Real Time Products including Axon Dispatch, Axon Respond and future products and involves coordination with at least 7 squads across the US, UK and Vietnam as well as with QA and Product. We are looking for a Senior Release Manager who can bring structure and rigor to our release process such that we can release changes to production predictably and reliably, and will champion release best practices across the team. At a high level, this will encompass driving process automation, defining release checklists, release requirements, and release best practices. At a tactical level, this will include managing QA and Validation testing strategies and schedules, providing guidance on release readiness based on testing results, and building out the deployment rollout strategy. We are looking for an experienced Dev Ops, Release, or Program Manager who has a track record of executing and coordinating complex software deliverables across multiple teams and job roles. This position will be expected to insist on the highest standards of production operational excellence by monitoring our metrics to advise the engineering teams on trends and issues for proactive alarming before customer impact occurs.
What You'll Do
Location: US Remote OR Onsite at our Seattle WA Office
Reports to: Director of Technical Program Management

  • Own and maintain software release management for all RTO products. At a high level, this will require an individual that works cross-functionally across product, engineering, and quality.
  • Coordinate across product managers, engineering, and quality to set and drive all major software release deliverables and make the entire organization more effective and data-driven.
  • Collaborate with software program managers to ensure all deliverables are aligned and accomplished for our key program milestones.
  • Track all major roadblocks and risks to our release and roadmap plans, while reporting this information up and out to the broader organization.
  • Create and monitor dashboards maintaining a birds' eye view of the products' quality in field during and after releases as a whole.
  • Revolutionize our software release management processes for Real-Time Operations products, leading the effort to not only tactically push updates to the field but also strategically on best practices and methodologies to do so at scale and with the highest quality bar.
  • Lead by example with thoroughness, detail, and care for our customers.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with our teams in Seattle, Scottsdale, London, and Vietnam.

What You Bring
  • 5+ years work experience as a software project/program manager or Release Manager. Preference towards enterprise SaaS.
  • High degree of competency and proven success with project management including: Agile methodology, identifying and managing risks, tracking dependencies and milestones, and communicating overall project status.
  • You are able to identify dependencies, mitigate risks and meet deliverables through global cross-functional teams
  • Experience using JIRA.
  • Experience collaborating and working closely with remote and off-shore team members.
  • Can create, read and understand detailed process and software architectural documentation.
  • You are able to learn quickly and get passionate about the underserved and unique needs of public safety.
  • You resonate with Axon's Values and believe technology can be applied to tackle public safety's biggest challenges.
  • You not only can accept critical feedback - you thrive off of it and can effectively communicate it to your peers as well.

Benefits listed herein may vary depending on the nature of your employment and the location where you work.
The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 130,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 230,000 in the highest geographic market. The on target earnings range for this role is between USD 220,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 370,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
