Established in 1986, EOHSI’s major objectives are to:
Advance understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and occupational chemical exposures impact human health.
Identify and measure human environmental and occupational exposures to chemicals. Treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures. Develop educational tools describing relative risks of chemical exposures. Contribute to public policies related to environmental and occupational chemical risks. Offer training programs for environmental health professionals.
The Institute serves as an unbiased source of expertise about environmental problems for communities, employers and governments in all areas of occupational and environmental health, toxicology and risk assessment. EOHSI members are active as advisors to international, national, state and local organizations on public health issues.

Among the duties for this position:
- Greets patients and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner, and facilitates adherence to schedule of appointments.
- Schedules/cancels/confirms patients’ appointments according to the criteria of the department. Provides accurate information such as directions, pre-visit instructions, insurance form requirements, etc.
- Registers patients completely and accurately, ensuring that pertinent data is obtained from patient and entered into computer system or updated as needed.
- Answers phone calls, takes accurate messages, and refers caller or message to appropriate party.
- Assists with patient reminder calling and retention efforts for the WTC Health Program
- Assists with scanning records and indexing into EMR system
- As directed, communicates with various hospitals and physician offices regarding patient related information and documents. Provides information in accordance with patient confidentiality standards.
- At least one (1) year of clerical experience, preferably involving receptionist and scheduling duties in a medical office or clinical setting, required.
- Typing/word processing skills and excellent customer service skills required.
Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply.
