Position Overview  
Within the R&D System Architecture team, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer focusing on Compiler technology, with a corporate or academic background in Hardware and System Architecture, Computer Science, AI model engineering or similar fields.
Your primary role will be to design, architect and implement Axelera's experimental, forward looking Neural Network compiler, and its integration into the commercial Software Development Kit (SDK). The ideal candidate will drive innovation in hardware architecture, Compiler Technology and neural network architecture, contributing significantly to our technological advancements in AI.
 
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design, architecture and implementation of Axelera's next-gen neural network compiler. 
- Engage in cutting-edge research to pioneer new methodologies and develop novel performance-oriented compiler features tailored to Axelera's hardware platforms. 
- Integrate compiler features into Axelera's commercial SDK. 
- Perform rigorous performance evaluation and benchmarking of state-of-the-art neural networks on Axelera's current and next-gen products. 
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including software engineers, ML scientists, and product managers to align on project goals and requirements. 
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders within the organization. 
- Contribute actively to the team's knowledge base through documentation, sharing best practices, and participating in technical discussions. 
- Collaborate with academia or industry partners on joint research projects to explore new possibilities in AI technology. 
- Contribute to Axelera's intellectual property through patent filings, whitepapers, blogposts, or publications in relevant conferences or journals.

Requirements:  
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or another related field (circuit design, computer architecture, Compiler Technology or AI/ML).
- Basic working knowledge of Neural Networks, specifically Convolutional or transformer Neural Networks for Computer vision and Sequence Modelling. 
- Experience in software development.
- Strong programming skills in Python 
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. 
- Preferred: Experience or knowledge of Compiler Technology, with relevant development or usage experience in Tensorflow XLA, TVM, MLIR, Glow or any custom frameworks. 
- Preferred: Basic knowledge of common computer architectures (CPU, GPU, AI accelerators) and SoC architecture. 
- Preferred: proven track record of innovative contributions to AI/ML projects or research initiatives / publications or patents in the field of neural networks, system architecture, or related areas.

Location
We offer a flexible working arrangement, with the option to work from or relocate near an Axelera AI office (Leuven in Belgium, Eindhoven in the Netherlands, Zurich in Switzerland, Milan in Italy or Bristol in the United Kingdom) or work fully remotely from any European country.
