Define scope of technical programs and develop effective and efficient solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems. Routinely use company systems and meet all site requirements with little supervisory guidance. Assist in teaching less senior professionals and guiding their efforts.
DUTIES
- Incorporate Quality Assurance Engineering practices and a variety of complex features such as enhanced QA requirements, application or new or special requirements or processes and difficult coordination of oversight requirements into problem solving and QA program planning where only general objectives are defined. Coordinate various phases of the activity and perform program development work in assigned field.
- Provide technical support to site training division on a rotational basis; Provide QA expertise and guidance to the training organization.
- Design, develop and implement QA training programs based on specific quality engineering principles, special materials and processes; multifaceted and complicated regulatory requirements following training, development, and delivering procedures where only general objectives are stated.
- Define specific problems based on general information from management and customers. Plan Quality Assurance effort and coordinate activities with those of other divisions, departments, and sections in focused areas to solve problems.
- Determine scheduling requirements for assigned tasks, in collaboration with management.
- Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and programs.
- Effectively communicate results and objectives to customers, colleagues, and management. Demonstrate logic and understanding through problem solving abilities, assessments, audit reports, professional papers and articles.
- Routinely communicate QA Program and corrective action status with DOE-SR personnel.
- Develop working knowledge of organizations and management systems to facilitate CQF efficiency and service.
- Demonstrate commitment to QA concepts by active participation and successful implementation of Department TQ initiatives.
- Serve as a QA expert in evaluating the QA Programs of major program participants, including subcontractors and suppliers, in order to recommend corrective actions, redirect efforts, and provide judgment as to a project's potential for success. Present findings to Management and Site QA.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Education
Must Qualify in one of the following:
PH.D. degree in Engineering/Science with 2 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering experience in the fields of Operations, Maintenance, Construction or Industrial Manufacturing
MS degree in Engineering/Science with 5 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering experience in the fields of Operations, Maintenance, Construction or Industrial Manufacturing
BS degree in Engineering/Science with 7 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering experience in the fields of Operations, Maintenance, Construction or Industrial Manufacturing
Non-Technical degree with 10 years of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Engineering experience in the fields of Operations, Maintenance, Construction or Industrial Manufacturing
At least 13 years of multi-disciplined professional Quality Assurance, or engineering related experience with increasing levels of responsibility in an operations, maintenance, construction, or manufacturing environment, of which, 8 years must have been in a senior position.
Experience/Skills
- Current auditor and lead auditor certification from WSRC or prior employer is desired, if transferable.
- Must be able to define specific problems based on general information from management and customers. Plan Quality Assurance effort and coordinate activities with those of other divisions, departments, and sections in focused areas to solve problems.

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
