About Salesforce
We're Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI+ Data +CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too - driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good - you've come to the right place.
The Employee Experience team in our People Strategy organization is seeking an experienced Researcher with expertise in deriving insights from qualitative employee data sources, including but not limited to surveys, interview transcripts, and internal data sources of record for performance and employee-manager interactions. If you are skilled in taking large amounts of textual data about employees and summarizing information for key insights, this role is for you. The role sits in our Employee Listening team and will work closely with Data Engineering colleagues on defining appropriate analytic tools to apply to qualitative data, documenting procedures and outcomes, driving innovations, and coordinating knowledge sharing. The role offers the opportunity to craft novel approaches to use passive listening and ambient data sources to address common workplace challenges.
Responsibilities:

  • Derive actionable insights from passive listening and other ambient data sources related to employee engagement and experience, applying appropriate empirical research and analytic techniques (e.g. generative AI tools, large language models, natural language processing).
  • Work together with internal data engineering team to define and scale analytic tools, document techniques applied, ensure data accessibility and accuracy, and track lessons learned to apply in future implementations.
  • Use research-based insights to describe workplace issues raised by employees, identify process gaps and major productivity obstacles, and suggest solutions from employee feedback.
  • Building on surveys and other data sources, deliver results narratives from qualitative listening data.
  • Help support the case for research to inform decision-making related to workplace challenges based on employee feedback and data.
  • Collaborate with insights teams and other researchers on projects that ingest qualitative listening data as input.
  • Partner with other listening team members and researchers to support employee survey projects operationally, including survey construction, set up and programming, launching, and managing survey delivery.
  • Ensure Employee Success (HR at Salesforce) and relevant business teams are familiar with qualitative data insights and results narratives.
  • Support development of strategic plans and research agendas to use qualitative listening data sources to address business challenges.
  • Coach other team members and business analytic teams on research methods and insights.
  • Stay current with qualitative research trends, competitive intelligence, and emerging technologies that apply to the role.
  • Establish knowledge sharing processes for all relevant work to track projects, procedures, and key insights obtained.

Qualifications:
  • At least a Master's degree or equivalent experience in a field emphasizing people research in organizations, with an emphasis on sentiment analysis (e.g., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Development, Data Science, Linguistics). Experience will be evaluated based on alignment to the Values & Behaviors for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer work, etc.).
  • 5+ years prior experience in an organizational role focused on analyzing listening data and other passive/ambient data sources, in particular employee surveys and text data sources from internal company systems (e.g., performance records, employee-manager interactions, business process interview data).
  • Proficiency in social science research methods for qualitative data, specifically use of machine learning, large language models, and emerging generative AI tools to summarize large qualitative datasets, with the ability to innovate and continuously improve processes and outputs.
  • Experience communicating and presenting research results to colleagues (both experts and non-experts in employee data) across a matrixed organization and with senior leadership.
  • Experience managing employee survey design and deployment in an organizational setting.
  • Data-driven approach to integrate and tell compelling data stories from quantitative and qualitative research data.
