Job description

Senior Public Relations Coordinator

Perkins&Will is seeking a Senior Public Relations (PR) Coordinator to help craft, pitch, and place brand-building stories with the press. Preferably based in New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, or Chicago, the Senior PR Coordinator will masterfully navigate the complexities of the global media landscape to secure high-quality coverage in influential design, business, and general interest press. The Senior PR Coordinator will also serve as a key liaison between the Corporate Communication Team and local marketing teams around the firm, providing strategic support to strengthen the quality of PR across our studios.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establishing, executing, and tracking progress against a comprehensive firmwide PR strategy that dovetails with the firm’s overall communication strategy.
  • Drafting and/or copyediting clear, compelling pitches, press releases, and announcements that expertly balance journalistic writing and storytelling with strategic brand positioning.
  • Liaising with members of the news media, including proactive pitching, responding promptly to requests from journalists, and coordinating and facilitating media interviews for various spokespeople.
  • Implementing a system for tracking, organizing, and archiving media coverage.
  • Identifying and tracking relevant firmwide awards and speaking opportunities, and crafting submissions and speaking abstracts.
  • Assisting the Web Coordinator with the updating and maintenance of the website to ensure the clarity and quality of firmwide storytelling.

Critical skills include:

  • Demonstrated passion for, and understanding of, architecture and design.
  • Understanding of the discipline of journalism and a demonstrated ability to write and tell stories to journalistic standards.
  • Understanding of the inner workings of the news media.
  • Superior organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Mastery of English grammar and spelling.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work collaboratively across teams, departments, and disciplines.
  • Ability to self-start and self-motivate—and the desire to hit the ground running!
  • Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in strategic PR and media relations in the A/E/C industry.
  • Degree in journalism, communications, English, architecture, or related discipline
  • Working knowledge of Office suite
  • Knowledge of WordPress preferred

Salary Range

At the time of posting this job advertisement, the annual pay salary range for this position in Chicago is between $71,700 and $91,500, in New York is between $79,700 and $101,700, in Philadelphia is between $69,000 and $88,000, and in Boston is between $75,700 and $96,700 commensurate with qualifications.
