We offer a full range of desk-led technical claims handling, adjusting, appraisals, and supply chain services.

Job Overview

Davies Claims Solutions (DCS) is looking for a full-time hybrid (Nashville, TN) Senior Property and Casualty (P&C) Claim Adjuster who will be responsible for investigating and evaluating losses while developing a plan of action to bring claims to proper resolution in a timely manner. The person is this position must provide a high level of customer service when assisting customers and claimants in a timely manner. The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of P&C claim adjusting experience, can communicate effectively, has excellent negotiation and investigative skills, and manage priorities well to meet time-sensitive deadlines, is well organized and displays critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Determines extent of insurance coverage and liability on each filed claim
  • Investigates claims, including interviewing claimants, clients and witnesses
  • Obtains necessary records, including but not limited to, hospital records, police reports, and physician records
  • Conducts NMVTIS and CMS/Section 111 reporting
  • Utilizes appropriate preferred vendors
  • Presents thorough and accurate reports to clients and excess carriers on claims investigations/situations
  • Negotiates settlements for resolutions with claimants and their attorneys
  • Maintains control of litigation activities and costs per account requirements
  • Effectively addresses and maintains incoming documents in a consistent and timely manner
  • Attends meetings, mediations, conferences, workshops or training sessions; reviews written material to maintain current knowledge on principles, practices and new developments in assigned work areas
  • Maintains and meets state specific licensing requirements
  • Responds to client questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner
  • Adjusts claims associated with catastrophic losses, complex litigation, and other sensitive issues
  • Onsite building inspections required as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Licenses will be needed for states to be handled.
  • Must be located in Nashville or surrounding areas.

Experience
  • 5-7 years’ experience in handling property and Casualty Claims.
  • Proficient in the use of Xactimate to prepare detailed written estimates on the scope of damages in both Replacement cost and Actual Cash Values, obtaining an agreed scope of work and cost of repair with contractors and/or clients
  • Proficient in Excel to prepare property loss spreadsheets

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge in Commercial Construction, handling large CAT storm losses and required building codes
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with insured and construction companies to ensure timely work progress
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division – as well as calculation of averages and percentages
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed, while meeting time-sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to conduct investigations in multi-party situations
  • Ability to use standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks
  • Ability to prepare and present accurate, reliable and factual reports with recommendations
  • Thorough knowledge of current principles and practices associated with claims investigations, adjustment and related practices
  • Extensive knowledge of medical and legal terminology with a thorough understanding of legal principles/litigation management
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as negotiation and investigative skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly and utilize new skills as a result of rapidly changing information and/or technology
  • Ability to comprehend multi-state laws and regulations to assist other offices, as necessary
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and critical thinking skills
  • Superb attention to detail to ensure accuracy while meeting time-sensitive deadlines
  • Strong ability to prepare and present accurate, reliable, and factual reports with recommendations to appropriate parties
  • Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment as well as understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time exempt position and is hybrid. The position will be required to work out of the Nashville TN location on a weekly basis, as well as work remotely. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with an hour for lunch. Travel will be required for claim or scene investigations as necessary.
