Job Title: Senior Project Engineer II

Job Duties:

The employee will perform the job duties at unanticipated client worksites that will change as the employee is assigned to client projects. The employee will be required to relocate to be in commuting distance of client worksites as project locations change.

  • Manage Quality on large HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) and EHV (Extra High Voltage) projects within EHV transmission and HVDC and substation industry.
  • Write project policies and procedures based on ISO 9001 specifications for the construction of EHV, HVDC, Power Generation, transmission, and substation Construction Projects.
  • Negotiate contracts, create Profit and Loss statements, direct schedule, ensure on time delivery, and change order management for electric power transmission projects.
  • Identify, document, and report on deviations from technical requirements of IFC drawings and applicable national and state codes required for construction of HVDC Terminals and other EHV segments.
  • Identify and mitigate risk on HVDC and other EHV construction projects by creating and managing Risk Mitigation plans, identifying quality deviations from any technical requirements in the construction period.
  • Review contractor submitted Quality Control Plans in the HVDC and EHV Construction projects for content, technical gaps, and errors.
  • Track and resolve outstanding items on Request for Information (RFI) and action item logs relating to HVDC and EHV power transmission and substation projects.
  • Review and articulate to stakeholders technical engineering specifications and codes for HVDC transmission and substation construction projects, using understanding of the engineering, Quality Assurance, and Quality Management process.
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities to ensure that major equipment including Transformers, Vave Hall apparatus, control building gages and meters, and substation AC Yard (HVDC) structures are manufactured and installed according to technical engineering specifications.
  • Reviewing and articulating engineering specifications for HVDC, Quality, transmission, and AC Yard construction projects.
  • Create detailed biweekly reports with QA analysis, RFI's, Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Implement QA monitoring processes, develop reporting systems and procedures using reporting tool(s) including P360, constructing Project Quality dash-boards, Primavera P6, Primavera Contract Manager, Microsoft Project, Tilos Linear Scheduling, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio software.
  • Work with internal team to prepare detailed Site Quality Assurance Plan and work plans for proposals.
  • Review Request for Proposal (RFP) language and provide feedback to the legal team reviewing the new RFP contract language.

Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Civil Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or closely related field. Foreign degree accepted.

Experience Required: 5 years' experience as an HVDC and Power Plant Quality Assurance Manager.

Special Requirements:

  • The applicable 5 years' experience must be in the EHV transmission, HVDC and substation industry.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and prior experience in:
    • Managing Quality on large HVDC and EHV projects.
    • Quality Assurance and Quality Management on HVDC and EHV projects.
    • Identifying and mitigating risk through Quality Management on HVDC and EHV construction projects.
    • Reviewing and articulating engineering specifications for HVDC, Quality, transmission and AC Yard construction projects.
    • Using P360, constructing Project Quality dash-boards, Primavera P-6, Primavera Contract Manager, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio software.
    • Contract negotiations related to electric power transmission projects.
    • Creating Risk Mitigation plans.

Travel Requirements: Domestic travel up to 10 days per month. International travel up to 10 days per month.

Work Hours: Full time, 40 hours/week. Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 pm.
