Senior Project Engineer - Engine & Hybrid Powertrain Development

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the installation and commissioning of cutting-edge powertrain test setups, encompassing both conventional combustion engines and hybrid configurations.
- Identify and implement critical connections, measurement points, and instrumentation to facilitate efficient testing procedures.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive testing of engines, aftertreatment systems, powertrain systems, and OBD systems on engine/chassis dynamometers or in real-world applications.
- Analyze measured parameters and system performance, ensuring alignment with project targets.
- Calibrate and validate electronic control unit parameters to meet program objectives effectively.
- Summarize findings and prepare engaging presentations and reports for both internal and customer review.
- Efficiently manage customer hardware and project component inventory, ensuring seamless logistics.
- May involve on-site work at customer facilities and vehicle test trips to support ongoing development programs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related field (Masters preferred).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in engine, vehicle, and/or powertrain testing.
- Strong fundamentals in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and internal combustion engines.
- Profound knowledge of SI and CI combustion processes.
- In-depth understanding of aftertreatment systems.
- Experience in the calibration of base emissions control strategies to meet customer and regulatory requirements or calibration and implementation of OBD strategies in compliance with CARB regulations.
- Familiarity with base engine, aftertreatment, and/or hybrid electronic control system strategies, including software logic implementation and control system functionality.
- Proficiency in using commercially available calibration and development tools such as ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, Vector CANape/CANalyzer, Matlab/Simulink.
- Exceptional professional communication skills in both oral and written English.
- Motivated team player capable of thriving in a fast-paced development environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Hybrid Powertrain systems.
- Familiarity with control strategies employed on Bosch and/or GPEC controllers.
- Strong understanding of US emission regulations and certification test procedures for Gas, Diesel, and/or Hybrid systems.
- Understanding of US OBD regulations and monitoring approaches.
- Hands-on experience with engine hardware assembly or rebuilding.
- US citizenship or Permanent Residence status is a plus.
