Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer for our client in Hayward, CA. This role is pivotal in leading capital projects and ensuring alignment with business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to excellence in project management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional capital project teams, including contract engineering team members, to achieve business objectives.
- Serve as the primary interface between the Project Leadership Team and the Business, leading all necessary communication forums.
- Ensure a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities within the project team and provide direction as needed.
- Oversee adherence to Process Safety Management (PSM), Environmental, Safety and Health (EH&S), and other core value standards throughout project execution.
- Facilitate economic evaluations, prepare funding requests, and ensure financial reporting is performed accurately.
- Develop and implement Project Quality Plans, auditing work processes for compliance and meeting project quality requirements.
- Interface on Front-End Loading (FEL) and Design/Procurement of assigned capital projects.
- Provide oversight for construction management and daily field contract administration.
- Champion productivity improvement strategies including LEAN Construction Methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical Process or Mechanical preferred).
- At least 2 years of experience leading capital projects, preferably projects greater than $500,000.
- Experience working with full-service design and construction contractors.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Learning agility and adaptability to changing needs.
- Business judgment and understanding of organizational systems.
- Deep understanding of capital project execution, including estimating, scheduling, and contractor management.
