The purpose of this position is to lead, manage, and coordinate the Del Monte Production System (Lean Manufacturing) across multiple company facilities. The position will deploy the lean manufacturing tools with the goal of identification and elimination of the seven wastes of manufacturing within Del Monte operations. The expectation is that this position will help develop a culture of Continuous Improvement (CI) that will provide sustained cost savings, quality improvements, and safety improvements that will significantly lower the cost of production of Del Monte Products.
The salary range for this role is: $104,335- $187,674.
Responsibilities:
  • Be a champion of the lean manufacturing methodology, providing mentoring and support to each production facility to which the manager is assigned.

  • Directs shift operations to meet or exceed annual production plans, facility quality and sanitation goals to meet or exceed Del Monte standards.
  • Actively manages all necessary programs and directs accident prevention efforts to maximize the safety performance of assigned shift or department and effectively achieve or exceed facility Safety goals and minimize corresponding workmen's compensation costs.
  • Directs department supervisors and hourly employees, as assigned, resulting in achievement of plant maintenance and operational goals, to include effective inventory management of materials and ingredients that optimizes cash flow while meeting production and maintenance requirements.
  • Actively assists in the annual budgeting process developing plans and providing effective and ongoing support to Site Director that result in increases in efficiency and productivity and decreases in operational and fixed costs.
  • Leads implementation of Lean manufacturing concepts including KPI Development, 5S, Kaizen, Visual Controls, Standard Work, Pull, Value Stream Mapping, Total Productive Maintenance and SMED.
  • Drives the company-wide continuous improvement effort to maximize safety, quality, and cost. Develops and deploys metrics for monitoring the progress being made in each facility with emphasis on reporting OEE and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Designs and leads Kaizen events that will positively impact the business unit operations.
  • Leads, facilitates, or participates in Six-Sigma projects.
  • Communicates to management and peers key outcomes, best practices, and cost improvement efforts.
  • Provides training on Lean to employees; Lean "Basics" and "Lean Knowledge" trainings.
  • Provides internal coaching to site leadership teams on CI system implementation in order to make breakthrough improvements on OEE/Site Capacity. Strong skills in clearly communicating the why (intent) and the how (execution).
  • Drives productivity and efficiency gains through reduction of Planned and Unplanned Downtime in order to contribute to yearly productivity and OEE goals.
  • Responsible to establish a culture of empowerment and rigor through building capability in leaders to develop equipment owners in their sites through AM activities.
  • Ensures that AM capability is built into project deliverables for new line installations and line relocations.
  • Coach and mentor plant CI leads on CI strategy and implementation, best practices and role of a CI manager in a TPM environment.
  • Partners with multiple functions (EHS, Quality, Engineering, etc.) to facilitate CI system integration and improvement.
  • As a member of the plant leadership team, also involved in daily production and operations issues to insure that we produce a quality product, deliver against our committed customer service goals, and optimize efficiency/productivity.
  • Be recognized as a leader and problem solver at the site by providing leadership and expertise that will solve problems and improve performance.
  • Motivates, coaches and instills good management skills in engineers, shift supervisors, and hourly employees. Establishes a strong presence on the floor to set and communicate expectations, standards, and evaluate results so all employees understand expectations.
  • Initiates and leads employee training to further instill the continuous improvement skill set in the organization. Develops new processes and programs as need and where gaps exist.
  • Facilitates a process of best practice sharing internally within the plant as well as externally with peers and other facilities.
  • Management of communication process to present the status of plant improvement projects.
  • Leads project selection process and drives policy deployment so that all employees have a clear understanding of goals and objectives for a successful year.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • BS in Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Management.
  • Additional specific education in lean manufacturing and Six-Sigma processes would be a plus.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience in a high mix process-oriented environment. Specific experience in lean manufacturing implementations
  • Ability to travel frequently to support multiple manufacturing operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to all levels of a manufacturing organization.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Project.
