Caterpillar is seeking a Senior Production Manager in Brooklyn Park. In this role, you will be accountable for the coordination of material, equipment, manpower, quality and meeting production schedules and customer satisfaction. Major responsibilities include directing the work of others, problem solving and resolution and coordination with support departments. In addition, the Group Manager determines budget requirements, cost savings project plans, forecasting production needs and ensuring quality standards are maintained.

What you can look forward to in this role:

• Ensure effective operation of an assigned area of logistics to meet established schedules and production requirements while maintaining cost targets. Develop plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and manpower to achieve manufacturing cost, quality, and inventory management targets.
• Monitor internal logistics metrics that will enhance customer value and business unit results.
• Establish cost and quality goals and ensures the efficient integration of factory, logistics, and quality for assigned area.
• Ensure proper direction and supervision of activities in assigned area to maintain effective utilization of personnel and machinery.
• Determine needs and coordinate actions required to maintain standards of efficiency, quality and safety in area supervised.
• Implement various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certifications, etc.
• Promote development of people through continued education, employee involvement, increased responsibility and ergonomics. Train new supervisors on manufacturing quality. Set goals and assists team in meeting quality goals/standards.
• Manage multiple sections and reports to the facility Director of Operations manager.
• Participate in the continuous improvement process, making sure new ideas are generated, worked, and implemented, and any roadblocks are eliminated.
• Initiate and conduct process improvement dialogs with Production Managers, Team Leads and Team Members.
• Develop detailed near-term and long-term production plans.
• Drive root cause analysis and resolution on all forms of loss, i.e., safety, quality, production.
• Perform periodic audits for safety behavior, 5S, quality safety, standard work, and productivity.

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

• Performance Management : Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
• Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies : Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
• Manufacturing Operations : Knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
• Manufacturing Safety : Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, the environment and site.

• An extensive knowledge of logistics processes and tools, manufacturing operations, and related areas.
• Proven cross functional leadership.
• Strong business acumen and proven excellent decision making.
• Demonstrated ability to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department.
