Job description

System Integration Engineer- Electrification

The Lead System Integrator is responsible for facilitating the integration of the mechanical, electrical and control systems of an electric propulsion system.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying, defining, and characterizing the connections between these systems and executing the functional, performance, and safety goals.

They will work with the various components (inverters, electronics, motors, sensors, software, and controls) during the various application development cycles to provide leadership, technical expertise, and guidance as appropriate to the various teams.  This will ensure that all the various requirements (customer, internal, and regulatory) and expectations are met and/or exceeded for all milestones as the development process ensues.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Follow the product creation process and provide supporting reviews, reports, and documentation. 
  • Manage engineering project deliverables and complete them within the specified deadlines.
  • Ensure high quality designs released on time for assigned programs.
  • Lead and coordinate resolution to program engineering issues for assigned programs.
  • Collaboratively work with the customer, suppliers and the internal teams to meet targets. 
  • Ensure timely response to customer on technical issues and program engineering deliverables.
  • Lead daily integration activities across all the stakeholders including hardware and software to ensure all systems are properly integrated to meet all internal and external milestones and requirements. This would include leading the calibration and testing activities of the integrated system.
  • Report status and results periodically to senior management.
  • Lead the planning and coordination of the functional, safety, and performance testing of the electrical/software/hardware using the V process.
  • Ensure data is collected, analyzed and corrective actions implemented for team metrics.
  • Facilitates personal development, positive employee relations and work environment for departmental staff.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of experience in powertrain or driveline is required  
  • Master of Science in Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relative experience
  • Understand new technologies for eAxle and driveline systems including motors, inverters, electromechanical devices, and geartrain systems
  • General experience in powertrain Electrical Systems including hardware, software and controls
  • Problem Solving - Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Strong understanding and experience in system engineering fundamentals and using first principal approaches
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
  • Ability to take ownership, prioritize and work multiple tasks to completion
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to ensure clear and effective group communication with fellow engineers, customers, sales and suppliers
  • MS Office proficient
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

  • Knowledge and experience with mechatronic systems
  • Experience in processing customer and internal requirements as well as the creation of new requirements
  • Understanding and working knowledge of EMI, EMC including filtration methods
  • Understanding and working knowledge of electrical connectors and wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of Automotive Spice
  • Knowledge of ISO26262, Automotive functional safety
  • Familiarity with mechatronic systems
  • Experience with CAD and release process
  • Proficient with GD&T, dimensional tolerancing and tolerance stacks
  • Advanced Driving Certifications
  • Experience in developing Control Algorithms
  • Understanding of low level coding 
  • Experience in Compiling and Flashing embedded software onto ECU's
  • Experience with MATLAB/SImlulink,, CAN/LIN/XCP/XCP and tools such as CANalyzer and CANoe 
  • In-depth technical subject matter knowledge for their engineering product 
  • Proficient with application of DFMEA and DVPR including the development and execution of test plans
