Job description

SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing telephone and field audits in a multi-functional business unit, within established authority levels. Reviews accounting and financial information necessary to determine appropriate exposures for policyholders' employees and subcontractors.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

Performs telephone and field audits within established authority level.

Collects all pertinent data and documents needed to calculate policyholder's premium liability.

Interviews policyholders to obtain further information concerning premiums, e.g. payroll and personnel      records, and communicates completed audit information with contact and ensures results are understood.

Provides information to policyholders in preparation for Workers Compensation audits.

Reviews policy file information by referring to workers compensation manuals, class codes and rules, and    prepares for audit in determining insured's' correct operations.

Notifies business unit of necessary changes in entities, officers, partners, etc. to ensure that policy is properly    endorsed.

Discuss audit dispute issues with agents and insured.

Perform re-audits when disputes or discrepancies arise on original audit.

May be required to testify in court regarding premium audits.

Trains other premium auditors, as necessary.

Maintains confidentiality of information processed.

Works with minimum supervision.

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field. Combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Completion of APA or AIU designation or significant progress towards or completion of CPCU highly preferred. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.

EXPERIENCE:

With proper education credentials, five years relevant premium auditing experience which provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities. Prior senior Audit Consultant experience is highly preferred.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:

Ability to work effectively in a multi-functional business unit.

Considerable knowledge of workers compensation insurance including knowledge of occupational classification codes and rules.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policy documents, technical and financial information, and procedure manuals.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Knowledge of current and future practices, trends and information affecting the marketplace.

Effective presentation skills in a variety of settings.

Ability to initiate insurance transactions in compliance with all policies, procedures, legal and ethical    guidelines.

Ability to negotiate while establishing a personal rapport and maintaining an effective working and client    relationship, both internally and externally.

Ability and proficiency in the use of computers and the use of company standard software.

Ability to quickly and accurately work with many variables to arrive at premium calculations.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, establish work-flows and meet necessary deadlines.

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Ability to perform other assignments at locations outside the office.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Travel is required, with occasional overnight stays. Ability to lift and carry computer equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.

Pay Range - Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market, and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $68,310 and $114,300.
