Class Summary
Job DescriptionThis Senior PR Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Police Department's communication needs by collaborating with a team of graphic and web designers, video producers, and other public relations professionals to ensure understanding and execution. This position will also provide guidance and expert advice to managers within Communications, clients within the Police Department, and peers on public relations strategy, to include campaigns and special events.

Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County's values.
In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.

Essential Duties
- Develops strategy for communicating important messages from Gwinnett Police to residents, businesses, and other stakeholders
- Researches, writes, and prepares content for social media pages, websites, presentations, marketing materials, speeches, newsletters, video scripts, and correspondence
- Thoroughly reviews work for errors before printing or publishing
- Accepts and provides constructive criticism and resolves conflicts
- Conceptualizes and collaborates on the creation of print and electronic materials (newsletters, flyers, brochures, and graphics)
- Manages and maintains branding and style standards (content, font, image, and logo usage)
- Coordinates special projects and special events
- Assists with media relations, including developing news releases, facilitating information requests, and conducting on-camera interviews
- Keeps current on new communications tools/tactics and seeks new opportunities to reach target audiences
- Leads meetings with client departments
- Explains job duties to youth and adults during outreach programming
- This job may require on-call rotation and after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
