What you'll be challenged to do:
TranSystems Corporation is looking for a Environmental Scientist/Planner 3 to support in Section 106 Compliance, archeological program management oversight work, providing direct support to federal and state clients on the management and delivery of transportation projects. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to understand the application of planning and project management principals, Section 106 Consultation, is detail-oriented and organized, can support in administrative processes, and navigating technical subject matter related to transportation and/or environmental programs and projects. This position will report to our Berkeley, CA Office but may work on projects nationwide. The ideal candidate can be located nationwide or is open to flexible work hours for both west and east-coast assignments.
A candidate for this position should have strong listening and communication skills with the ability to write materials that relay a clear message. Additionally, we are seeking someone eager to learn, be a team player and possessing a desire to grow in their career. The primary types of projects the candidate will be assigned include federal grant-funded project administration, state programs for special transportation categories, and leading tasks or projects involving transportation planning and environmental studies and/or pursuits.

Basic Responsibilities:
- Operated independently under the direction of the Project Manager and/or Senior level staff as to the assigned tasks, budget for tasks, and general results expected.
- Conducts research and prepares documentation ensuring quality, timeliness and considering budget.
- Gathers and analyzes data to present materials such as graphics and maps.
- Works as part of the team to prepare recommendations and alternatives.
- Compiles and analyzes data on site conditions, compliance reviews, and facilitation and implementation of programs and services required by federal, state and local legislation.
- Attends, participates, and documents meetings often serving as the main presenter and/or on behalf of the client.
- Ultimately responsible for project organization and document management with the support of technical staff.
- Occasionally will organize, lead and participate in on site/field reviews and documentation of existing site conditions.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing professional networks; participating in professional societies.
- Master’s Degree in Planning or related field preferred
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Strong work ethic and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.
- Knowledge of the MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of database software
- Knowledge of Tribal Coordination and/or Section 106 desired
