Job description

We're 23,000 colleagues in more than 30 countries delivering oil, gas, wind and solar power to 170 million people worldwide. Taking on tough energy challenges is our job. Right now, we're facing an enormous task: supplying the world with the energy it needs, while lowering emissions.

We're up for the challenge. Are you?

The positionBy joining our team in Exploration & Production International you will have the opportunity to:

  • Perform integrated formation evaluation for clastic (offshore and onshore), carbonate, mixed-lithology, unconventional and CCS reservoirs.
  • Perform advanced petrophysical evaluation, including multi-mineral modeling of complex lithological formations using Petrophysical (Geolog) software, working with wireline and while-drilling logs, core analysis, and formation tests.
  • Update and create new petrophysical prediction models for porosity, permeabilities, saturation, etc., to reduce uncertainty in the hydrocarbon-in-place estimations of pre-drilled prospects and fields in development.
  • Support exploration and field development drilling programs, collaborating closely with subsurface, operations geology, and drilling teams to design and execute formation-evaluation programs that are safe and cost-effective.
  • Support and collaborate with multiple subsurface teams in a professional manner, providing petrophysical interpretations appropriate to the business context.
  • Mentor colleagues where appropriate.
  • Align and network with other parts of Equinor. This is essential to ensure consistent valuation across the company. As such, the position will involve occasional travel, including overseas, for technical presentations and training.

You

  • BS degree in Geosciences or a related field is required. MS or PhD degree is preferred.
  • 10+ recent petrophysical experience required.
  • Competency in a wide range of petrophysical interpretation techniques and in the integrated application of all petrophysical data types, including wireline and while-drilling logs, core analysis, formation tests, mudlogs, etc.
  • Understanding of and commitment to rigorous data management practices.
  • Ability to perform rigorous, comprehensive petrophysical analyses, single-well or field study.
  • Petrophysical experience in US GOM (deep-water clastics) and unconventionals/complex lithologies preferred.
  • Understanding of pore pressure data and analysis is a plus.
  • A willingness to occasionally travel, including overseas, for technical presentations and training

General information

Candidates are expected to openly offer all relevant information about themselves during the recruitment process. All permanent and temporary hires will be screened against relevant sanctions lists to ensure compliance with sanctions law. Furthermore, background checks are performed on all final candidates.
