The Senior PCB Fabrication Expert is a detail oriented professional that oversees the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a small prototype PCB fabrication lab to include all associated equipment, tooling, and processes

Specific roles and responsibilities will include:

• Produces 2 layer protoype bare circuit boards using mechanical drills/mills, laser ablation tools, and copper plating baths.
• Properly handles the receipt and disposal of HAZMAT/HAZWASTE according to the facilty's requirements.
• Directly advises and assists customer electrical engineers on going from schematic capture to layout design. Designs will range in complexity from single layers to 12 electrical layers with blind/buried vias.
• Educates engineers on design for manufacturing best practices.
• Educates designers in regards to in house prototype production methods and out of house commercially available methods. (What's realistic and possible? ...and what isn't.)
• Occasionally assist electrical engineers in rapidly producing kapton stencils to facilitate quick turn PCB Assembly.
• Develops and helps implement training courses on PCB Fabrication processes and equipment.
• Creates and documents SOPs for the use of specialized chemical and mechanical PCB manufacturing processes.
• Serves as a technical advisor to engineers and buyers to help procure bare PCBs. Helps buyers maintain a running list of approved external vendors.
• May interact with external vendors to help advise and clarify technical requirements and specifications.
• Documents and maintains a maintenance and repair program for all PCB Fabrication equipment
• Coordinates with the Electronic Stockroom Support personnel to maintain consumable stock levels sufficient for ongoing engineering requests.
• Continually researches emerging manufacturing technologies and makes recommendations for potential implementation.
• Works in close coordination with PCB Assembly Experts and eCAD Librarians to ensure a quality product is produced.
• Provides field support from the WMA and TDY as required. (It's extremely rare, but it could happen.)
• Maintains familiarity with current industry standards for PCB fabrication (Ex: IPC-A-600 and IPC-6012)
• Mentors and educates Junior PCB Fabrication Specialists.
• IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, IPC-7711, IPC- 7721

 

Required Qualifications:

• 8+ years of direct, hands-on experience in prototype or commercial PCB Fabrication.
• Active TS/SCI w/polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications, Desirable Attributes and Experience:

• Willing to support occasional extended work hours for quick reaction projects.
• Previous experience on hardware-oriented government contracts.
• Knowledge of LPKF and/or MITS prot
