Job Description


As a Senior Payroll Specialist, you’ll impact the lives of everyday people and help them go from surviving to thriving with innovative digital personal finance solutions. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for payroll processing and check distribution for multi-state/multi-company bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and semi-annual payrolls. This role supports the Manager with complex payroll calculations/special projects, reviewing and auditing payrolls, assisting with payroll process documentation/training, and resolving escalated payroll issues.

This role requires attention to detail, prioritization of assigned tasks, proficient research/problem-solving and Excel skills, and excellent customer service.


Qualifications


What you’ll do:

  • A quick learner who demonstrates strong enthusiasm toward payroll processes and the completeness and accuracy of the data.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks, prioritizing work, and meeting strict deadlines
  • Represent the team effectively; build trust and credibility and maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information
  • Demonstrate ability to multitask and work with the immediate payroll team as well as other departmental stakeholders
  • Ensures payroll processes are administered in compliance with established SOX controls, internal company policies as well as applicable federal and state regulations/legislation, including applicable wage and hour laws
  • Provide excellent customer service and timely resolution of payroll issues
  • Create and maintain proper payroll processing supporting documentation in an organized manner
  • Process termination payments in accordance with various state guidelines
  • Process nonstandard payroll transactions including bonuses, deductions, other payments
  • Previous benefit administration experience a plus

Qualifications

What you’ll bring:

  • A minimum of 4+ years’ experience processing multi-state/multi-company payrolls with 2500 or more employees
  • ADP Workforce Now experience a plus or 4 years or more using similar platforms processing in an outsourced payroll environment processing end to end payroll
  • Time Management System experience-EZ Labor Time Management a plus
  • Must be familiar with MS office products (Word, Excel – advanced skills, Outlook)
  • Experience developing reports and analytics which meet business needs.
  • Daily Management of payroll email with volumes of up to 60 inquiries per day
  • Experience with user access security administration within the payroll platform a plus
  • Creating and managing regular, commission, bonus, supplement, termination, retro pay and time import batches
  • Ability to reconcile batches and pay codes to source documentation and calculations
  • Reconciling payroll totals to preprocessing reports
  • Experience assigning payroll earnings and an understanding of how/when to assign specific payroll earnings codes to wages
  • Four years or more experience in the following:

    • Calculating sales commissions, bonus and premium pay using excel
    • Collaborating with Accounting to assist with GL and bank draft concerns
    • Understanding payroll tax rates and how to apply to wages within batches
    • Knowledge of tax spreads and how to assign to wages as needed
  • Two years or more experience in the following:

    • SIT/SUI required state and federal taxes
    • Knowledge of payroll regulations such as federal and state wage and labor laws.
    • Managing garnishments and required deductions
    • Working with HR and Benefits to help resolve payroll concerns

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • CPP Certification a plus

Compensation: $30/hr. to $34/hr. + benefits. This information represents the expected salary range for this role. Should we decide to make an offer for employment, we'll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
