Description: The pay range is $87,900.00 - $158,200.00
Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. A role with the Packaging team means a big opportunity to create something truly original. Are you a Packaging Engineering expert who can support your business by staying one step ahead of industry trends, new materials, and techniques? Can you demonstrate the utmost attention to detail and create packaging that is unprecedented in the marketplace for its function, design, and quality for the price? Then you will have success on our team. We own the Design and engineering of all Target-owned brand packaging both in store and online. Under the overall direction of Packaging Leadership and in close partnership with our product, creative, brand and sourcing counterparts you will design packaging solutions for assigned categories, brands, business, or guest segments and manage the front-end development. You will deliver on brand cohesion and continuity while ensuring our packaging meets the brand priorities, merchandising plans, assortment strategies, price points and functional needs of the product and our guest. Best of all, you will have the opportunity to improve sustainability and accessibility for all our guests with your packaging solutions.
As a Senior Engineer, you will:
  • Research packaging materials and technologies and present them to partners
  • Develop the engineering strategy for packaging across multiple brands and businesses
  • Commercialize packaging innovations in partnership with category Packaging Engineers
  • Create CAD models and prototypes and test them with end users
  • Analyze data on cost, sustainability, damage, and guest experience
  • Independently manage a large workload with multiple projects, prioritize requests, and meet deadlines
  • Build and maintain strong connections with the packaging industry and supplier partners
  • Prepare and present professional presentations to business partners, leadership, and external partners

Requirements:
  • Four-year degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experiences
  • 7-10 years of experience; mass consumer goods preferred
  • Knowledge of materials and processes for structural packaging and plastic part production
  • Deep expertise with ArtiosCAD, willing to train with experience in similar CAD software
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software
  • Strong written and verbal presentation skills
  • Sample portfolio or relevant professional work

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
