SEIU (Service Employees International Union) JOB TITLE: Senior Organizer
GRADE: UUR III
ANNUAL SALARY: $82,672
LOCATION: All USA

PURPOSE: To represent and assist the International Union in organizing airport workers; to take responsibility for major campaigns and to act in a leadership role with respect to program and other staff; to perform advanced training for organizers, staff, and worker leaders of SEIU; and to design and implement organizing goals of SEIU.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Examples provide a general summary of the work required and should not be treated as a total and complete list of expected duties to be performed by employees in the classification.) Perform a wide range of duties as assigned by the International Union, including, but not limited to the following:
  • Designs and manages large organizing campaigns or multiple smaller campaigns including organizing, comprehensive campaigns, and strikes.
  • Collaborates and supports division and local staff on all aspects of the campaign planning, including but not limited to development of campaign vision, goals, strategy, timeline, communication, community outreach, and politics.
  • Coordinates and directs the day-to-day work of organizing staff assigned to campaigns including scheduling, assigning turf, debriefing, and training.
  • Develops and implements training for organizing staff and worker

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Three to five years of experience in external labor
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and leading labor organizing
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not required

SKILLS DESIRED:
  • Excellent writing, verbal, and analytical communication
  • Thorough knowledge of organizing campaign
  • Ability to develop and train staff and worker leaders in the skills needed for the
  • Knowledge of organizing campaign database management tools such as Organizer Toolbox, Organizing VAN or other similar applications. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to write and proofread campaign communications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is generally performed out of the office in settings conducive to performing the tasks required to complete assignments including and not limited to worker facility visits, home visits, canvassing, worker strikes, meetings, rallies, and other union activities.
