Senior Network Designer
The full-time duties of the Senior Network Designer are ever evolving. This individual must be able to learn quickly, an initiative to complete multiple tasks associated with the design and engineering of the Lit Fiber networks. The Senior Network Designer will report directly to the Director of Design to achieve the network deployment tasks of Preliminary Design (HLD), Construction Ride Out (CRO), Make Ready Engineering Analysis (MREA), Field Data Collections, as well as the GIS Detailed Design, Construction Packages, and As-Builts throughout the engineering and construction of any project.
Responsibilities:
- Create complete preliminary designs using selected architectures.
- Desktop CRO reviews the preliminary design paths, including selecting the side of the road, long lead permitting locations, and work environment.
- Conduct MREA for potential work environment changes and the overall cost of network ownership.
- Fabricate detailed designs in the selected GIS database and construction packages.Detailed designs shall include all maps, splicing documents, drawings, bills of materials, etc., needed for construction vendors to deploy the fiber networks.
- Deliver GIS designs and construction packages on time and with the highest level of quality.
- Track progress, give updates, and complete trackers.
- Perform self-check of work for completeness, accuracy, standards, and overall presentation.
- Assist in quality checking colleagues work if necessary
- Assist the director of design with any information gathering needed to create reports for leadership.
- Assist with splice documents QC is needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience in OSP design of fiber optic facilities in aerial, underground and direct buried applications.
- 5+ years of experience in OSP engineering
- Proficient in GIS Database design and CAD
- Competency in Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel, and tracking systems such as Smartsheet, Google Sheets, and Asana.
- Capability to understand and learn new architectures.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
- Collaborate with staff.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to learn and retain OSP design of fiber optic facilities in aerial, underground, and direct buried applications.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
