Job Description:
The Senior Network Administrator's role is to support and maintain in-house technology equipment and IT assets. This includes installing, configuring, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading all corporate hardware and equipment while ensuring its optimal performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training and assistance where required.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Maintain Data Center
- Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex hardware/software problems for end users and recommend and implement corrective solutions.
- Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user and network hardware, software, peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, presentation equipment, and other products.
- Monitor computer systems to improve network performance for computer systems and networks.
- Update virus protection software to keep data and communications protected.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of IT equipment such as hubs, routers, switches, monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, printers, scanners, and other peripheral equipment.
- Document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hardware and equipment contracts and supervise contract-based installations.
- Identify and deliver required hardware service levels according to company policies.
- Liaise with and provide training and support to end users and staff on equipment operation and other issues.
- Receive and respond to incoming IT tickets, calls, and e-mails/chats regarding hardware/software problems.
- Ensure integrity of backup processes daily.
Strategy, Planning, Acquisition & Deployment
- Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future hardware and corporate technology needs.
- Conduct research on and make recommendations for software/hardware products in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs and liaise with third-party support as needed.
Position Requirements:
Knowledge & Experience
- Strong Windows/Unix/Linux understanding
- Windows corporate environment, Server/Desktop, Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange/Microsoft 365, SharePoint.
- Excellent technical knowledge of corporate networking, and other network related hardware.
- Virtualization – Windows Remote Desktop environment, VMware.
- Comprehensive hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience and ability to operate tools.
- Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, software, and standards.
- Able to perform troubleshooting and problem resolution, and read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
- Ability to conduct research into hardware products and issues as required.
- Experience with firewalls and Internet VPN’s remote implementation.

Work Conditions
- On-call availability for emergencies outside normal business hours (after hours, holidays, etc.).

- Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as servers, computers, and peripherals.
- Must report to work onsite at NIKSUN’s Princeton, NJ location.
Formal Education & Certification
- University degree in the field of Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
- Certifications desirable in Microsoft MCSE; Cisco CCNA; Microsoft 365; and Amazon Web Services.
